Well, truth be told, Beltaine is my favorite holiday, but I’m a big fan of Samhain/Halloween/Day of the Dead, or whatever you wish to call it. Perhaps it is because it is sort near my birthday, but this seems to be one of the times during the wheel of the year that yours truly is extremely powerful and potent… Well, I’m always pretty potent, but around this time of year I can be too much so. 😉 Why? Because the veil between the otherworld and this one is so dang thin! If you’re anything like me, about a week before this day, the air seems to almost pick up a hum, as if you can hear the goings on in the otherworld. Yay!

It’s also a GREAT time to pick up real black candles for cheap. Any other time of the year, the price is just through the roof, but right now, a box of black tapers would probably not hit you up for that much. I also pick up decorative reaper candles specially made for the holiday, as they are a lot cheaper right now than if I have to pick up a similair item in a occult supply shop.

It’s funny, but past the obvious spiritual/magic/kal aspect of this time of year, that I also see it as a sort of harvesting or storing up time…the real reason (or so I am told) for the original Samhain holiday… to reap the harvest.

Since I am low on funds, the mass amount of “yearly supply buy” will probably come between thanksgiving and Xmas/Yule this year, unfortunately, but I definitely recommend this time of year for all of you to pick up hard-to-get items while they are cheaper and less-hard to find.

Sometime this week we will discuss honoring the dead for Samhain, but for now this is all that there is. 🙂

Blessings,

~Cat
