Hello my dearies,
Thank you so much for several of you pointing out a certain individual’s blog to me containing materials from this blog, and negative dialect concerning my blog. Also, thank you to the indivduals who have emailed me regarding that same individual’s negative postings regarding me in a few Yahoo groups. I realize several of you want to know what went on, and although I felt myself the bigger person for NOT plastering any comments about this debacle on my blog, I figured that I had to because I am getting a lot of email. I do appreciate the support, but this is the quickest way to respond.
It seems that this person felt that I was not crediting the African roots of Hoodoo properly, and also that because I have dabbled in other magic/kal systems, that I did not have a serious interest in Hoodoo. There was also some private communicae between us in which I outright postulated that he was judging me and biased against me solely because of the color of my skin, which was weird because I also felt like I was being called racist which can’t be true – race is as important to me as the color of your eyes. I also had said this publicly once and then later to him in a Yahoogroup because that is what I felt. I also did not appreciate certain misinterpretations of my work or the fact that I felt that I was being regularly attacked publicly by this person when I felt I had done nothing wrong. I’m white. I really can’t change that. I do study Hoodoo, and I have studied LOTS of traditions, but Hoodoo was my first, and probably will be my favorite for the rest of my life. I’m a serious student of Hoodoo, and anyone has the right not to believe that…just remember I will defend myself. Admittedly, as soon as I felt attacked and perceived that I had been judged unfairly, I was also somewhat nasty to this person, so of course, he felt attacked… Anyhow, this is behind both him and I now.
If you are judging me on my ideas and my knowledge after reading this whole blog, then I accept your opinion, but I do not feel you are informed if you pass judgement on me after reading one post. You may not agree with what I have to say, or dislike my Hoodoo, but I am happy to discuss your concerns. I do understand that at least 85% of Hoodoo is derived from African-Americans’ traditions, and openly acknowledge this. I still feel it is a form of folk magic/k and not a religion or means of social guidance. In regards to the complexity of spells…I do try to keep the simpler spells here…likely there will be no EXTREMELY advanced stuff on my blog…I get enough questions already. 😉
But as for the “arguements” and what I felt were attacks upon my character… The olive branch has been offered, and we are not arguing any more.
Again, thank you to all of my supporters. 🙂 You know I love you all, my readers, and will continue to supply you with spellwork tips and occult information…and yes, some of it will even be non-Hoodoo from time to time. 😉 It is readers like you that keep my blog alive.
Blessings!
~Cat
