Hey Occulties,
I wrote this article not only for those of you who cast your own spells, but also in part for those who purchase/request spells. In my work, I’ve come to a point where I can easily identify people who are going to have a low-level of success and those who will will have a high level of success. Hopefully this will help more people have successful spell outcomes.
Trait #1: Positive Thinking
By positive thinking, I’m not speaking on some sort of airy-fairy chirpiness which will ultimately irritate the everloving crap out of those around you. I never ever want to create a world of Pollyanna-like spellcasters….I’ll leave that to the Llewellyn Publishing House. π Believe it or not, the overly-optimistic person is about as fun as the overly-pessimistic person – both grate on ones nerves after about three meetings with them. π
Instead, what I’m trying to impart here is that you need to have a strong faith in yourself and in the spellwork. Rather than becoming negative and pissy every time you THINK you’ve seen a negative development, or you feel as though you aren’t getting any visible signs of manifestation, don’t take the moment to panic or have an emotional fit, but rather keep strong and faithful in your belief your spell is working.
I believe I’ve told the story before, but I once had a rather horrid altracation with a fellow I was trying to reconcile to myself, soon after a spell. I remember going to bed after that fight feeling a bit bewildered at his actions, especially when I was sending reconciliatory energy, only to be pleasantly surprised the next day as it was opening needed for him to come and apologize – not only for the fight, but for a lot of his behavior prior to it.
Remember, spells use the path of least resistance to manifest. Sometimes what seems like a step backwards to the petitioner, is actually a needed occurance for the spell to move forward. Rather than get into a big emotional snit, or use the episode as an excuse to behave negatively, keep faith in your spell. Little “speedbumps” on the road to manifestation happen to everyone from time to time. π
Trait #2: A Calm Mind
A good mage avoids hysterics, avoids negative thought patterns, and tries to keep a clear mind. A good petitioner does the same. While this may sound similar to the above trait, its is not the same thing.
If you have no control over your own mind, you will never be successful in spellcasting. Petitoners who constantly complain about their mental state to me are some of those I identify as apt to have issues with manifestation. Not every situation requires distress, panic, anger, nor, I should hope, should MOST situations require such behaviors.
Instead, if you can think with a clear and still mind, keeping it free of irrational emotions, you will find as a spellcaster, that you can properly direct your energy, while also avoiding a loss of energy on un-needed stress over, what is usually (see above trait,) nothing to worry about as is. π While having faith in the spellwork will usually provide some level of a calm mind, it is also something which the petitioner must develop within themselves. Should you be prone to panic attacks, melodrama, or hysterics, you need to work on this problem – it bespeaks a very tumultuous mind. :S
A good spellcaster and a good petitioner avoids panic, and keeps his/her mind calm, clear, and directed towards the desired end WHEN casting, does not pick at how and why the spell may manifest, and allows the energy to be “let go,” to manifest. S/he does not worry or panic about the little speeds bumps on the road to manifestation, but rather calmly adjusts his or her behavior to aid the spell when needed.
Trait #3: Discretion
I had spoke in this post about the four basic tenets of spellcasting, and one was “To Keep Silent.” A problem I see in many petitioners is a need to brag about a spell which hasn’t manifested, or a desire to confide in several people about a spell which has not manifested, therefore putting the spell energies at risk.
While it is certainly a positive thing that in many countries we are given quite a bit of freedom of religion, and therefore can practice our spellwork without fear of punishment from the government, this is/was not the only reason to keep your mouth shut. π
As I’ve stated many times, a spell is energy which has been raised and directed at a situation. Thoughts also have energy, but less so than a spell. Allow me to place an excerpt from a previous post discussing this which I felt was very educational regarding a thoughts effect on a spell:
Spells are basically concentrated energy, which is being directed towards manifesting a certain goal. By utilizing the energy within ourselves and within certain plants (and minerals and animals as well,) and even occaisionally employing godforms, spirits, saints, entities, or demons, we can combine this with spellwork to realize our goal. HOWEVER, thoughts also have energy. No, a thought may not be as concentrated or strong as a spell…it is better to think of this like a spell being a giant boulder, and a thought being a pebble…both are the same thing in a way, but a thought is smaller, and no I am not calling spells rocks, I am just giving you a visual here. Now, going back to the visual, imagine for me if you will, that this boulder (our spell) is rolling towards a destination (our goal for the spell,) and yet every time we think of this boulder (our spell,) we are doing the equivellant of hucking a pebble at the boulder and chipping a piece off, ie making it smaller, less effective, etc. Now, if we only think of the spell a little bit, we are still gonna have a big “boulder,” when it reaches the destination…but if we think about the spell constantly, we are not going to have anything reach the destination at all, because we will have broken it down to nil. So…what I am trying to get across here, is that a spell is energy, and your thoughts are energy, and this can lead to your thoughts dissolving a spell because you are mentally attacking the spell, if you will.
Just as the spellcaster/petitioner’s thoughts can attack the spell energy, so too can an outside person, made aware of the spell, attack the spell energy with their thoughts, and in doing so, lessen the power of the spell.
Furthermore, some people may lack discretion about the spell, and may actually tell others, which may lead to your spell target (if that is a person,) discovering that you have cast a spell on them. While this may be helpful in certain situations (I can think of a few incidents where a person, believing they were cursed, made themselves quite sick with worry,) it may also quite hinder your spell, especially in the case of a love or reconcilitation spell. :S
It is always better to keep QUIET about spellcasting. I used the term “discretion,” because I feel there are always instances you might be entirely safe telling someone who is also a competent spellcaster about your spell, however, you need to know who the knowledge is safe with. π
Trait #4: Accountability
I’m sure everyone has met the person who believes its everyone’s fault but their own. If they slip and fall, its the fault of the walk not being salted and sanded enough; if they go broke, its their parents’ and their teachers’ faults for not teaching them enough about paying their bills and making a budget; if they become clingy and crazy to their ex, its their ex’s fault for not showing them enough affection, etc. π
The highly-effective spellcaster and/or petitioner does not fall into this trap. S/he takes responsibility for his/her own actions which led to the situation s/he finds him/herself in.
If you were clingy and this chased away your ex, this happened because YOU were clingy, and refused to observe the signals to back off. That your ex is not affectionate enough may be true (perhaps the affection began to wane as a response to the clinginess,) but that does not mean you had a green light to become a clingy, smothery mess.
That you are in debt and can’t pay your bills because you didn’t budget your money is not the fault of your boss, your parents, your teachers, or even those billing you – you were responsible for the bills, and probably spent the money on things which you likely did not require. You were warned what the amount would be, and as an adult it was your responsibility to budget the money out for the bills.
Until you start taking responsibility for yourself, you are not apt to get anywhere good in life, and you will most definitely lack success in your spellcasting… but why? How does that fit in spellcasting?
Well, a good spellcaster recognized the faults or the places where s/he lacked good judgement and corrects the behaviors which led him/her to the undesirable state s/he is in now. This prevents the undesired state from reoccuring, and lessens the liklihood of a need for more spellcasting on the problem. Instead of needing a money spell just to pay the bills every month, you will reap the added income from the money spell, AND comfortably pay the bills. Instead of having to use a “return to me,” spell every time Cleetus leaves, you will not chase him off with clingy behavior again, and therefore won’t NEED a second spell to remedy the situation.
Am I getting through to you here? I hope so. π
Trait #5: Decisiveness
An effictive spellcaster/petitioner should have a clear goal, and a solid “plan of attack,” for reaching that goal.
The ineffective spellcaster/petitioner constantly changes his/her mind as to what s/he wants, and therefore often either needs to recast certain spells (after some adjustment,) or simply decides s/he doesn’t want the original “desired outcome,” at all. π
This seems to be a more common occurance for me to hear with cursing spells, but its something which happens in many different situations. Remember, spellwork isn’t to be taken lightly, nor is it something I recommend executing solely out of a fit of passion (see trait #2,) but rather something which is CLEARLY desired and of a desire not likely to change in the next 48 hours. π
Alrightey…its not a complete list, I’m sure, but I do hope this is of use to some of you. π There will be questions, so please use the contact me link to your left, and contact me should you have any.
