Hi everyone,

A lady named Wendy Angus is felloniously trying to use my blog comments to sell fake Xanax. If its real, she’s going to federal prison. Since she was so nice to pimp her fake bullcrap on my spam through an ad on the comments section, please feel free to email her all your spam at Wendy.Angus@gmail.com

Remember, everything you write here needs to be on topic. While I did jokingly say I’d give my readers Xanax so they would not freak out about their spells in the particular entry, I would not do that, and further your ads about anti-anxiety drugs have no reason to ever show up on my blog.

Your word-harvesting try wasn’t a good one. An off-hand joke does not invite ads about what you want to sell us, nor are we discussing the drug companies who wish to put people in a situation where they are addicted to a lifetime of prescription psychotropic chemicals.

Cease your trolling for customers on my blog immediately.

Thankies. 🙂

~Cat

PS- Wendy, if you ever spam my blog again, please see the article below this…the one prior to this one about you…. I’m gonna get Christian Bale-istic on you. >:) And I’ll like it, too. >:D *maniacal laughter*

Most comment spam is done by a computer program that spiders through the web looking for any keyword related to their site or even any comment form. It is nothing personal. Someone DOES set it up to start searching but the computer does the rest. Gambling, drug and porn sites are the heaviest users of these unethical programs.
Wordpress has a nice, free comment spam blocking program called Akismet that may work with Typepad; not sure.

I don’t think they do have a true blocking program. They have a “spam net” more or less… Like if I were to manually “block” you, you go into a spam folder, the contents of which are deleted automatically by Typepad on a regular basis. If you’re obviously selling spam, you also go there.
However, this was in “comments.” Regular comments.
It was, to say the least, well done. It was either directly written or written up previously and done bot-style. I’ve seen a lot of blog spam and this one really really came off as human… Until you realized that I mentioned an anti anxiety med in an off-hand comment and that the post was not about the medication. 😉 She wanted us to go to her site and compare Xanax to other anti-anxiety meds (she was selling, I believe.)
It wasn’t like you might see on a few posts where at the bottom I’ve placed “due to this post having a high rate of spam hits, I’ve closed the comments. If you have a question regarding this post, please contact me directly by using the ‘Contact Cat’ option on the navbar to the left.” 😉 I put those on posts which the spam folder has a record of over 10 spams to in one day for a total of a week. Some Russian spammer is absolutely excited to the nines about hitting various posts each day…too bad they are all in Cyrillic.
Either way, its a bit absurd to try to spam a moderated comments blog. I tried to leave comments unmoderated for as long as possible, but 2 things put an end to that… I had been recieving a lot of chinese porno spam (in the days before the good spam-filter on TypePad,) and then also a jealous rootworker who I handed his ass to him several years ago on a yahoogroup was, last year, also just getting ridiculous and leaving things like that I am a “slut” and a “stupid bitch,” a “complete c— who knows nothing,” and other similar middle-school-esque fights. That was enough for me. 😉 I mean, you don’t have to like me, but calling me names with your potty mouth on my blog is a little childish (but then again, I can get childish like that right back if you wanna pick a name calling fight, and I can make it sound intelligent.) But also, I have sensitive readers who were offering to “strike back,” at someone in defense of me…and he’s just a really pathetic hateful bigoted jackass (he doesn’t like people of color or women…I think he has enough problems,) so… Instead of upsetting everyone with the trashy crap being in the comments, its moderated before people selling drugs, having a hissy fit at me like they’re 12 and I told them that they aren’t cool enough to date me, or people who just want to spam me can even have their ad seen. It says “Comments are moderated, and will not appear until the author has approved them,” right above this box. 😉 Hopefully people catch that little er, disclaimer above the “leave a comment” box one of these days.
Thanks for your input, I do appreciate it. 🙂
