Hey there Occulties,

So, in keeping with what I was saying yesterday, – the greatest tool in any spell is the person casting that spell, – I'd like to expand on that. We've all heard "practice makes perfect," and if there is one thing I see in today's society with growing frequency is this idea that if a skill doesn't rapidly develop, if the desired outcome doesn't arrive in hours, that this "sucks." No one wants to practice anything. That takes time. :/ Of course, one needs to practice to get better, but if instant results aren't coming, all too often, people give up easily. All too often, having to make an effort, or having patience is seen as the ultimate sucky thing.

It does suck. I mean, I hate waiting, too. So in the sense that "waiting for things sucks," yes, it does.

And it is kind of sucky if you have to actually put in a lot of effort to get a desired result…which is why there are so many people who don't work out and are out of shape. Working out – at least in my opinion, – isn't an enjoyable thing. The endorphins are pretty cool, but I'll be honest, I also like sitting on my couch and eating something chock full of carbs and being lazy. 😉 However, if I never get activity or exercise, I sure won't like my body. If you're over a certain age, you need to work out to have the desired body.

Magic is a lot like that. If you spellcast regularly, like a muscle gets stronger from frequent use, so does your ability to cast spells grow stronger. If you do not spellcast except on the odd occasion here and there, that "muscle" gets weak. One way to keep this "Magic muscle" (which sounds like a porn title, haha,) strong without spellcasting every day is prayer and/or meditation. I am not suggesting you go from EXTREME ATHEIST to EXTREME RELIGIOUS ZEALOT with the prayer…if it feels forced or false, this would not be helpful. If you are uncomfortable with the standard idea of prayer, this might even be off putting. Furthermore, I do not expect you to be able to meditate like a master yogi every day. 😉 Instead, you could even focus on a planet which represents a sphere of influence you would like more growth in. For example, if you were looking to increase attractiveness and romance in your life, you might, every Friday, spend one hour or so (heck, even 20 minutes) where you light a pink or green candle, and say a brief thank you to Venus and ask for her blessing, and meditate on her energies. If you wanted to increase success and influence, you might pick some time every Thursday and thank Jupiter, ask for his blessing, and meditate on his energies.

This isn't limited to "planetary influences." Many people who work with saints and spirits speak to these beings daily. Many people say a prayer upon waking and on going to sleep – even before they eat meals.

The idea is to have some quiet, contemplative time where you focus, and to habitually (so at least once a week) engage in this focused, meditative thinking. That's all you need to do. This will improve your results when you spellcast a great deal, as well as it can definitely even out some of the anxiety and obsessive energies people build up when sick with lust for results.

Frequent spellcasting may not be feasible for everyone, – pets, spouses/partners, children can get in the way of that practice, – but I think most of us can find even 30 minutes a week for meditative thought.

When you start habitually focusing your mind, you will start finding your work manifesting more frequently and powerfully, which is the aim of most people reading my blog.

The best tool any magician has is him/herself, and if it isn't (because some people buy a $5000 pure gold seal for a spirit, and then never learn spellcraft,) then your results may not be what you are looking for.

Hope that is some help! 🙂
