Cat’s Rants: Confessions of an Occult Mastermind

Everything you ever wanted to know about Hoodoo, Rootwork, or the Occult! The internet’s longest running occult blog, established 2004

  • Hello my Occulties,

This is a good charm against someone who is running off at the mouth about you. It does require you to have some proximity to this person and to be able to get near them. Pre-emptively, yes you need the listed bioligical item, and I will recommend what type of ways to get it that I believe easiest, but you need their spit. How you get that spit is really up to you as long as you have their spit.

Before I list the ingredients – my personal preference for spit-gathering is one of two ways:

The first is using the glue part of an envelope for a snail mail letter that person may have sent to you. This would require that you know they seal envelopes with spit. As a rootworker, I do not seal my envelopes with my own spit for the very reason that I can get most people’s spit from an envelope quite easily…well, probably until I posted this article anyhow. πŸ˜‰

The second is to sneak off a napkin you have seen this person wipe their mouth with. This usually would require you to give them food or be present when they are eating, but can also work in office situations where you might take a napkin from a wastebaket or off a desk. However, you could get a used tissue that way, and while that is icky for it’s own reasons (so is getting a used spitty napkin, though,) you don’t want snot here – you want spit.

In either of the above, obviously you would be clipping a bit of material which had caught the person’s spittle on it. (Some of you are thinking I’m being way too obvious but if I don’t say that, I’ll have over 200 emails asking if it’s okay to use a bit of the envelope or napkin or etc with the spit on it.)

    You Will Need:
    Spell-target’s spit (see above)
    Kosher salt
Alum (powdered or crushed to a powder)
    Black pepper
Small glass bottle or jar with lid
Black tape (I prefer electrical tape)
A small bowl or container for mixing

This is an easy charm to make, and you could likely get all above ingredients (with the exception of your target’s spit,) from most supermarkets and/or right from items you have at home.

    Making the charm
First, mix equal parts kosher salt, alum, and black pepper, enough so that you can fill your jar or bottle. Place both hands over the bowl, envision your target in your mind’s eye and say “(First and last name of target,) when speak of me your mouth sours and you pucker up, when you gossip about me, you choke and the words get stuck, as is my will (name of target,) SHUT THE F*** UP!” (yes that is symbolic of the word fuck, but you can also say “shut the hell up,” or “shut the eff up,” or something else if you’re not comfy saying the eff word even when by yourself.) πŸ˜‰

Now pour your powder into your jar or bottle so that it is about half full. Place the item with your target’s spit into the jar or bottle. Pour in the rest of your powder so that it fills the jar or bottle, and as you seal the lid onto the jar/bottle, envision your target in your mind’s eye and say: “(First and last name of target,) when speak of me your mouth sours and you pucker up, when you gossip about me, you choke and the words get stuck, as is my will (name of target,) SHUT THE F*** UP!”

Hold the jar/bottle between your hands and envision your spell target in your mind’s eye and say: “(First and last name of target,) when speak of me your mouth sours and you pucker up, when you gossip about me, you choke and the words get stuck, as is my will (name of target,) SHUT THE F*** UP!”

    Cracked log clearing
Wrap the bottle/jar in electrical tape to cover it, trying to keep your target in your mind’s eye as you do so. As you put the last bit of tape on the jar/bottle (and it’s certainly ok to use only the tape you need to cover the jar/bottle – no need to use the whole roll if you don’t have to), still keeping the image of your target in your mind’s eye, say: “(First and last name of target,) when speak of me your mouth sours and you pucker up, when you gossip about me, you choke and the words get stuck, as is my will (name of target,) SHUT THE F*** UP!”

    Deploying the charm:

Carry the charm to a secluded area, preferably one where there is a lot of prickerbushes and scrub growth. Toss the charm as far into this area as you can, and as you do so say: “(First and last name of target,) when speak of me your mouth sours and you pucker up, when you gossip about me, you choke and the words get stuck, as is my will (name of target,) SHUT THE F*** UP!”

    Walk away without looking back.

I’m sure there will be questions, so please comment here or contact me if you have them.

  • Hello Occulties,

Over the years, I have come into contact with many different types of people with all different levels of experience all seeking out knowledge about spellcasting and the occult for many different reasons. While some people have had a long time interest in spellcasting, rootwork, or the occult, others have sought out the aid of spellcraft to help them only on a specific problem. It is those who fall into the latter grouping who seem to have the most difficulty acheiving their aims, often due to unreasonable expectations, ignorance regarding spells and how they work, acting against their own spell energies, or etc.

I have tried to educate people over the years about having reasonable expectations of what one might acheive through spellcraft. I’ve written articles like this one and this one to help people get over their obsessive issues and help their own spells manifest.

And yet, perhaps I am not being helpful enough as I am not addressing all problems I see – I am more addressing problems of people who have a better chance of acheiving what they want with their spellcraft if they just relax and get out of their own way for a minute. πŸ˜‰ I realize it would help more of my readers if I took a moment to examine other unhelpful ideas and behaviors that often limit and/or forefend a successful acheivement of what is desired through the use of spells.

Rdcandle2 So…let’s see if I can help educate today. πŸ˜‰

“I want a single spell – preferably one that’s not at all complicated and does not require any sort of experience to cast – to fix my gigantically complex problem”

Funny you should say that – I want that spell, too. Everyone in the Rant Room who wants to know that spell, raise your hand! Oh, woah, that’s like everyone in here reading this article who wants that spell. You tell us if you find that spell. Unfortunately for me, after a lifetime of dedicated practice and study, I’ve not located that spell yet, but you let me know when you do. πŸ˜‰

While this is not a hard and fast rule, if your problem is one that is incredibly complicated and complex, it’s pretty likely you’ll need to use more than one spell to fix the situation.

Realistically, you’ll also have a better chance of being successful if you have some experience casting a spell…and casting “like one or 2 spells using a spell kit once” is not exactly what I’d refer to as a good level of experience.

“I want a spell that’s guaranteed to work, even if I work against it’s influence in the mundane world.”

Funny you should say that – I also want that spell. Everyone in the Rant Room, who else wants the mythological beast of a “foolproof spell guaranteed to work no matter what” to exist? Raise hands please. Alright, looks like everyone wants that spell. Unfortunately the guaranteed-to-work-no-matter-what spell is an entirely fictional beast.

We’ve gone over the above two “problems” seen in the boldface above in here before, but I understand some people just don’t get what I’m trying to explain, so since I know how much you all like when I compare spellcasting to mundane things, allow me to explain via the use of metaphor.

Imagine for me, if you will, that you become fatigued easily, and that this issue has plagued you for about 3 months. You just feel like you’re exhausted all of the time. So, initially, you’re likely to take steps to combat this fatigue – maybe you’ll drink coffee, eat better, stop drinking alcohol, get more exercise, get less exercise, make sure you’re getting enough sleep etc. You try all of this, and you’re still finding yourself exhausted all of the time, so you visit a doctor. We can assume the doctor is likely to ask you about diet changes, sleep changes, stress levels, right? Right. So, when the doctor has found that you’ve made changes at home and had no improvement, he or she is likely to want to run some tests, right? Or is this doctor just going to hand you some form of amphetamine or something to “wake you up” without so much as looking for a more serious problem?

He or she will probably run tests.

Once this is complete, the doctor gives you a rather dire diagnosis. You find yourself with leukemia. It’s suggested you treat this with a bone marrow transplant to survive, and even then the prognosis is only a 66% chance you’ll make it…which isn’t awful statistically speaking, but it’s not guaranteed you’ll even survive. Your chances of survival improve slightly if you add other therapies in. Your other choices have even less of a chance you’ll survive the illness, but might also work. Whatever you do, you’re going to have a long recovery ahead of you – if you succeed in beating leukemia. Furthermore, had you come into the doctor after a few weeks of feeling fatigued, you learn your chances for a survival and a faster recovery would have been far greater.

So, if you’re like someone who comes to a spell-practitioner with unrealistic expectations, you would say something like this to the doctor “Listen guy, I don’t want to come in for anymore tests. Just give me a single pill/treatment I need to take once, and guarantee that’s going to cure me in under 2 weeks. If you don’t guarantee this, I’m going to tell everyone you are a quack because a REAL doctor could do it.”

And if you’re like someone who tries to cast their own spells who also has unrealistic expectations, you would say something like this to the doctor “Hey, I know you have some super secret cure right now that you won’t tell me. Just tell me what it is and I’ll get it and I’ll be fine in like 2 weeks. I know it has to exist because I want it to, and I know it has to be available to me because I want it to be, and I know this treatment also has to be something I can apply to myself because even though I have no real experience or training in the feild of medicine, I like watching television dramas about hospitals, so I’m sure those are totally accurate and I can just fix myself with no issue.”

I see a few of you rolling your eyes. πŸ˜‰ Spellcasting is, IMHO, quite a bit like medicine – it can involve having to use a combination of treatments (spells) to create the desired impact. It can require time and patience for the end result to be produced. People often study and practice spells for years and years to be as effective and successful as they are…I mean, going back to our doctor example, would you trust someone as an oncologist (cancer doctor) if they only took a CPR class once for their entire education in medicine or something like that? πŸ˜‰ Nah, probably not. And even if one has advanced oneself far in one’s studies, and is an amazing spellcaster, it still can take time and multiple spells to acheive the desired end, and even then there is ALWAYS a possibility the spells will fail to acheive what the petitioner (person requesting spell) wanted.

If you truly want to succeed at spellcasting you may need to dedicate yourself to your quest of fixing your issues via the use of spellwork for some time, though it may be brief. It could take a few weeks, it could take a few months. I have seen people dedicate themselves to issues that took them over a year to fix. It really depends on the situation, the spellcaster, the petitioner (if different from the spellcaster,) and (if applicable) the spell target. Sometimes even if you’re the greatest spellcaster whoever lived, you will fall short of your goals, or even fail entirely…though experience, knowledge, and dedication will greatly lower the chances of spell failure. And you’ll have to learn to accept that what might have worked well for a friend or acquaintance on a similar type of situation will not work for you. You’ll have to come to the realization what worked for you might not work for as well for the person you recommended it to.

“How long is this going to take to work?”

    As long as it takes.

Don’t like that answer? How about this one: It will take the amount of time it needs to take, and while there is certainly an amount of time where had so much time passed without visible result, that I might suggest you recast or try a different spell, that doesn’t mean there is some blanket answer to the question how long it will take – and if you think there is an easy blanket answer to that question that suits all people, you’re kidding yourself. You may wish to take a peek at Karma’s article that I linked to here, and see how she goes over that “unintentionally complicated question” problem she’s having? That’s what your question about a time frame is like. If you’re counting off the days since you cast that spell, you’re part of the problem with it’s manifestation. (I go over why this is so frequently in here. I won’t bore my faithful readers. If you’re a new reader, please have a look around the blog.) πŸ˜‰

I guess if you want some date to make yourself anxious by (which is why most people ask this question, in my experience,) I’d say barring any bad behaviors (see linked articles above,) and assuming the spell was cast grand-spankingly fanstastically AND assuming the desired manifestation is not that complex (so probably not a spell cast on a social/romance situation that’s been effed up for a long time)…probably about 1-4 weeks. Newbs tend to think their spells down though, so that could be a generous estimate (as in you may wait longer,) if you’re obsessive, a neophyte, not letting the situation go, etc.

Now that I’ve said that to you though, used to have a personal spell target that I could almost set a watch by who took 60 days to show any sign of being affected, and then this person showed signs of having the influence pretty much full manifested. I’m no newbie, and I wasn’t then. I knew what I was doing. I wasn’t obsessive, not letting my spell energy go, etc. It was the target.

Or…had a client who claims to this day that if I did a particular spell on a particular target of hers, that it took 48-72 hours to work on him. I loved working for that client. πŸ˜‰ (Hey, I’d love you even if it wasn’t like that, but you know how much that used to puff my ego up!) πŸ˜€

So the answer is that without having any foreknowledge of the situation or those involved, what spells you’ve used, where you are at emotionally/mentally (obsessive natures and not letting a situation go can mean a lot longer manifestation time,) if you are or are not going to do something to proverbially shoot that spell in the foot, or any other number of factors, the answer to “How long will this take to work” is “How long it has to take.”

“I’m okay because I have a large group of people to sit around and discuss my active spellwork with. It’s like a support group full of people who have never cast spells and have little or no experience with them. I assume this is helpful and won’t hurt my spellwork.”

Oh for eff’s sake! Not this dumbassedness again! :0 Okay, I’d admit to being biased against this thing, what with several years of articles begging you and advising you and pleading with you not to think your spellwork unto death, and here you are giving it to a whole group to do that for you, as if you aren’t obsessing your work down to nothing enough on your own. πŸ˜›
    Fair

There are four basic tenets to successful spellcasting (To know, to dare, to will, and to keep silent,) and even if you’re just the petitioner (person requesting spell,) you still need to keep it silent. I have gone over thinking things to death a billion and a half times in here (well, it’s well over 10 anyhow) but as a reminder – yep, other people can fantasize your spell to death and think it to death. So, you have a group-spell-kill going on from the sound of it. :S

I understand the desire for a support group, and I am not opposed to this in some ways. I know it’s a positive learning experience for newbies to join with other newbies and learn how to cast a spell together. I know for those who have deep emotional scars from their problems it can be very theraputic to share your miseries and defeats with others…but when it comes to discussing your active spells with a bunch of obsessive neophytes you’re probably doing your active spells more harm than good. Try to keep any spell under 3 months old which has not manifested between you and your practitioner, instructor…or among people who will not obsess and theorize and think your spell to death at the least. πŸ˜‰

“Once I cast a spell, I believe can do whatever I want and it won’t negatively impact the spellwork unless it’s a spell to counteract the first.”

Yeah, you’d be totally wrong there. You will need to work with the spell. If you’re reconciling someone you have to look attractive, act sane, not stalk, not be an emotional basketcase. If you’re doing a job spell, you still need to put in applications…. You need to be your best you and act with your spell’s best interests in mind.

So, if you chase your ex down the street with an axe, don’t expect them to come back no matter how good your reconciliation spell is. πŸ˜‰

“I want to cast a spell, but I’m too lazy to seek out the right materials. Can I substitute a white birthday candle and olive oil for these 20 ingredients you have listed here on this spell? I mean, I guess you used like 3 candles, and 2 roots and some oils and herbs, but one birthday candle and some olive oil is fine to substitute for all of that right?”

Oh. Hell. No. That’s a super fail right there, bucko. I don’t even want you reading my blog if you would ask something like that. This *facepalm* is for you.

Alright everyone, perhaps I’ll add more to this in another article when I have a few free hours.

    Happy Spellcastin’!

  • Hey everyone,

I really think you should read this article by Karma Zain – it gives a very clear picture into how time consuming answering emails in a rootwork related job can be, and how sometimes people have ridiculous expectations simply for being ignorant of how complicated the answer to their questions are. (Those of you who have gotten an email with “It’s not exactly a blanket answer,” as the opening line in one of my emails have probably already heard me make a similar speech – though props to Karma, I could never have said it as well as she has.)

    Go check it out! πŸ™‚

    ~Cat

PS- I had mentioned Karma’s post about why hiring more than one worker to work on your case at one time can be a bad thing, and I recommend it highly as well.

  • Hey Occulties,

Just a quick charm today – hope you like it! πŸ™‚ It’s a form of honey jar which I have found works a bit better on the analytical target (as opposed to a target more apt to act on emotion rather than logic.)

    You will need:
The tag from the inside of a hat your target wears frequently
    Honey or Corn Syrup
A small jar, like a baby food jar
A red permanent marker, fine-line (like a Sharpie,)
    Confectioner’s sugar
Star anise – crushed or powdered not full pods,
Cubeb berries OR essential cubeb berry oil (a few drops,)
Rose petals – pink or red
    Licorice root chips
A pink candle small enough to stay on the lid of the jar
Optional: an image of the target and petitioner together

Procure the label from a hat your target wears often, and write “Think sweet thoughts of NN” putting the full name of who the target is to think sweet thoughts of in place of NN using the red marker. Place this into the jar, adding a pinch of star anise, cubeb, rose petal, and licorice root, and then powder all ingredients in the jar liberally with confectioners sugar. Now fill the jar with honey or corn syrup, and close the lid tightly.

Hold the jar in both of your hands and, while trying to keep a mental image of your target as you do so, envision yourself sending red and pink energies into the jar until it feels “full.”

Place the jar on your altar and secure a pink candle onto it using candle drippings. If you have the optional picture, place this beneath your jar before you start. Holding your hand on either side of the jar say “(Full name of target), like sugar to the ant, or honey to the bee, sweet thoughts of me in your mind constantly,”** three times, and then say “As is my will, so it be!” Allow the candle to burn out. Repeat this ritual at least once a week (fridays being best,) to keep sweet thoughts of you in your target’s mind. It tends to work a bit stronger if done when you can feasibly believe your target to be asleep while you do the ritual.

You can use the jar until it gets rotty and gross or if you lose interest in the target you can stop doing the ritual..which I hope you would if you don’t want someone thinking about you all the time anymore. πŸ˜‰

**obviously if the spell is not being cast for you, you will want to change “me” to the appropriate name.

A lot of you have asked me for a simpler honey jar so I hope this complies with that request. πŸ˜‰

  • Hey Occulties,

Just 3 quick questions today! πŸ™‚

Q: If I cursed someone almost five years ago, what do you think the liklihood is that they would reverse it back on me now?

A: I would say it’s incredibly unlikely this person would REVERSE the very spell you cast on them. A long time has passed, according to what you’ve said, and that would not be the most-effective method of a counter-attack at this juncture in time. While I’d think someone who hasn’t struck back at you in five years is not like to do so now, should you really think they have reason to vindicate themselves for damage you had done to them via spellcraft, then they are more likely to attack you using a curse of their own, if they use spells. However, this is assuming your once-target is proficient in spellcraft. They might just kick your ass the old-fashioned way instead or something similar, but if they are not -to your knowledge,- angry or feeling violent towards you, I assume you’re safe.

However, if you’re just asking what if someone you cursed five years ago decided to take a reversing bath today or something (for another purpose,) and is still entirely ignorant to your having cursed them, then, IMHO you are not apt to be affected by this.

Q: Are magnets just as good as lodestones for spells?

A: I personally prefer manufactured magnets over lodestones in many of my rituals, but I guess I’d say it’s USUALLY a matter of preference of the spellcaster casting the spell.

Q: I cast a spell to get my ex back, and when my spell manifested and this person came back to me, they were still a jerk! What gives?

A: I would assume this person was a jerk all along. Just bringing that person back into your life will not dissolve their personality defects just because they return to you – even if to date you again. Often when we lose someone, we deify their image in our minds into something this person really is not (emotionally or personality wise,) and when reality sets in…well, you get to realize you made a jerk come back to you – a jerk who now misses you so very much.

You might stop someone from cheating, you might make them miss you and adore you, but if that person is just naturally churlish in some way, or if they are incompatible to you, or have personality traits you dislike then you have to understand those unlikeable sides of your intended are probably there to stay, and making that person love you will not change their ways in many ways. A jerk that loves you and doesn’t cheat on you is still a jerk, in other words.

So…I guess, I’d congratulate you on your success with your reconciliation spell, and give you my sympathies about realizing you fell in love with a jerk.

  • LOL, I went back in time to publish this apparently. πŸ˜‰ Real date: May 12, 2013…

I’m sorry, someone forced me to change this category and move all articles under it to a new one, due to someone linking a category of my blog to their site without my permission. 😦 If that was you, please kindly contact me (you can find how to do so under my picture on the upper left,) and make sure I approve of your linking.

While it was complimentary as far as I can tell, I was not appreciative of it’s placement and it was drawing some rather unwell people to request my services. As I say all the time, I don’t help people who want to kill babies, or who want the physical love of a child, want me to give them a magical rape drug, etc. I don’t even work with overly stressed people, overly depressed people, or people made emotionally unfit by the trauma of their situation. I do, however, have to spend hours of unpaid time telling these folks I can’t accept their business. I lose pay by having to waste so much unpaid time replying, they get hurt feelings. That’s not fun for either party.

If this was you who posted the category link or if it’s linked to your site/forum, I appreciate your recommendation, but require approval for such types of placement of my link. While it’s fair use to use without my permission, it’s fair use for me to keep changing the category if you do. πŸ˜‰ I will continue to do so until you secure my permission to use a category link, something which I won’t generally give when it acts as a form of advertisement which in this case it did. Sorry for any turmoil this may cause you. I do not mean to be discourteous, but I do not advertise anyone’s business link without their permission, and I expect the same treatment of those using an entire category link. Thanks! πŸ˜€

  • Hello Occulties,

Just a quick charm for you.

    You will need:
    A small vial or jar
    Alkanet root, powdered
    Irish moss flakes
    Cinnamon
    Chamomile flowers
    Frankincense resin, crushed/powdered
    Confectioner’s sugar
    A small lodestone or magnet
Gold paint (preferably that which holds up to exposure to water – I recommend acrylic based paints,)
Cloth ribbon (in other words not the cheap gift-wrapping stuff,) also colored gold
    Some small bowls
Something to mix with (spoon, etc)
    Money-drawing oil
A fine- or super-fine-line width permanent green marker like a sharpie
Optional: a funnel, an eye dropper, glue

Cut enough ribbon to easily “mummify” your vial (you can test by wrapping it around your vial before you cut,) and lay this out in front of you on a hard surface where you can write on it. Using your Sharpie/permanent marker, write the command “Money in my pocket,” over and over until you have filled the surface of the ribbon, as in the manner shown below (it can be written more than 3x, just showing to repeat the command in a straight line as per the visual example.)

    MoneyIn

Once you have completed inscribing the ribbon, place it in a cup or bowl and pour in enough money-drawing oil to saturate the ribbon. You are likely to use more than you need, so if you need to conserve your supplies, please use an eye dropper and slowly drop each drop on the ribbon and watch it soak up before dropping another drop on it. Allow the ribbon to sit overnight, not moving it from it’s container.

Using your gold paint, paint your lodestone or magnet. Allow to dry thoroughly. Once this has, using your green pen, inscribe your (or the petitioner’s) intials on the stone.

When your ribbon is almost ready to be used, in another bowl place about 1/2 to 1 tablespoon each of chamomile, cinnamon, confectioner’s sugar, frankincense and irish moss flakes together. Stir together. Add in about 1 teaspoon confectioner’s sugar and 1 teaspoon alkanet root to the mix and stir together again. Holding your vial/jar, fill this about half full with your herb mixture (using a small funnel may make this easier and less messy,) and then place your lodestone into the vial jar. Now fill the jar full with the rest of your herb mixture. Drop about 3-5 drops money drawing oil into the vial/jar, and cap it tightly.

Holding the jar in your hands, envision money drawn to yourself/person spell is for as if that person was somehow a money magnet. See their wallet overflowing with money in your minds eye. For those of you who know how to send energy, if you can envision gold and green energy flowing into the jar until it feels full, do this now. For those of you still new to spellcraft, just sitting and holding your jar while you picture yourself or the person the spell is for as a money magnet with overflowing wallet should impart some of the desired energy into the charm. If you want to try to send energy, you aren’t going to hurt yourself if you do it wrong. πŸ˜‰ Just trying to send a little bit of energy by visualizing yourself doing it will send a bit of a charge.

Once you feel you have given the charm a bit of energy, start wrapping your vial in your ribbon, trying to keep the picture in your mind’s eye of the person the spell is intended for having pockets overflowing with money, a wallet overflowing with money, and as you wrap, you say “Money in my pocket,” a total of 21 times. Tie off the ribbon so it holds tight. If you can’t do that, it’s okay to use a little glue. πŸ˜‰

Now hold the jar close to your mouth and breathe on it. Say “wake up.” Breathe on the charm again. Say “Wake up,” again. Breathe on the jar one more time, and now say “The charm is awake, money come to me, as is my will, so it be!”

Hide the charm on your property, especially near the front door of your business or home. Make sure it is retrievable as at some point the power in it will wear out, and you will need to remake the item.

    Enjoy!

    Hey there Occulties,

Wow, so did my house need a ritual house cleaning. πŸ˜› No wonder I was having such a bad time of things over the past few months. I clean my ritual room out regularly, but I needed to cleanse the whole house in every room, every floor every spot, and…well, things sure seem better for me now that I have. πŸ˜€ The energy is much lighter and better in here, and the house is extra sparkly, too.

Anyhow, while I was suffering from my own issues here in the world of the NinjaCat (computers breaking, people acting insane, my naturally short temper not making that easier for me or anyone, trying to find passwords to accounts I haven’t signed into for as long as I owned them because I just logged myself in forever, etc,) I did read lots and lots and lots of your emails and questions and etc. Not suprisingly, many of you had the same root problem in regards to manifestation. Want to know what it is?

    Fear. Fear is a spell-killer…and…
    Hamsterball

Worry is a form of fear.

Anxiety is a form of fear.

Refusing to let go of a situation is a form of fear.

Spying on/stalking a target to see if they are affected is also often a form of fear.

I could go on, but I think I’ve hit the most common offenders.

I realize there are all other sorts of fear, but I’m not here to discuss your fear of spiders, your fear of dirty socks, your fear of hamster balls, or your fear of flying. I’m here to help you deal with the fears which are impeding your spells from manifesting.

So, when it comes to spellworking, what are the most common fears someone might have?

I guess, generally speaking, they are like…

“What if this backfires?” Spells do not do the opposite of what is intended. Someone might reverse the spell back onto you which means you get to experience whatever you sent out to another, but a spell to get someone to love you does not make them hate you. Furthermore, it is very rare someone is using spells, so it’s unlikely if you’ve never known them to spellcast, that they are spellcasting back on you. So…this generally unfounded. The spell should not do the opposite of what was intended.

“What if this doesn’t work/What if the Universe says no?” Admittedly, both are possible. The spell not working is more likely than the Universe stamping a big no effing way on your request. So, you can try again, and assume perhaps the fault was yours when casting the spell. Still people do fear (and I mean neurotically fear to the point of anxiety attack,) that this minescule chance of the Universe saying “NO!” to their request is going to happen, to which I say, it’s also possible that I might lose my little toe because someone steps on it when I’m wearing open toed shoes while in a public place, but that hasn’t stopped me from wearing open-toed shoes, and your fear of the Universe saying no to your request is about as valid as someone being afraid to wear sandals to Wal-mart lest some errant shopper remove a toe. It could happen, but it’s not really worthy of anxiety because it’s not nearly as likely as people like to project it as being. The biggest cause of spell-failure is the fault of oneself and not the Universe.

“What if this doesn’t happen by the time I need it to happen by?” Deadlines cause anxiety. Anxiety is a form of fear. So…the best thing you do is to give yourself a comfortable amount of time in which to succeed if at all possible. Obviously, we are all going to have situations where something has to manifest by a very particular time, or it won’t be helpful…such as court cases or paying particular bills. My best suggestion to you here is to remind yourself that your growing anxiety is going to slow that manifestation down (if that makes you more anxious, probably you’re not so well cut out for spellcasting,) that you’re doing everything in your power to put the situation where you want it to be, and that by having confidence in yourself and your spellwork, you are most likely to succeed. I have also found if you can manage to set a deadline without an exact date (for example, instead of “March 2, 2011,” you might say “Early spring 2011,” or “Early March, 2011,”) you will do much better if you haven’t set a date to make yourself anxious by. I do understand if you have an appointment to show up at court or a due date for a bill, this isn’t alway possible.

“What if I make the situation worse?” While it’s doubtful you will worsen the situation, you may fear being at fault for what happens in the future. My suggestion here is to remind yourself that if you do nothing to try to improve the situation, you are guaranteed to make the situation remain just as badly as it currently is. That makes your persisting in this crappy place that you don’t want to be in to be entirely your fault if you do nothing to change it. Since spells don’t backfire, we can, right off, assume that the opposite to what purpose the spell was cast for is not going to happen. The real risk is that we might learn what it means to “be careful for what you wish for, as you just might get it.” Well, if you really want a thing, if you go after this desire in the mundane without spells, you’re just as equally likely to be disappointed in whatever it was you should have been careful about wishing for as you would have been to try to spellcast to get this thing – that is assuming the outcome ends up being a “be careful for what you wish for,” type of desire. πŸ˜‰ For example, if you always wanted the romantic attentions of a person who you found physically attractive, only to realize once you have their romantic attentions that they are a tiresome bore – well, spell or no spell, that person is boring to you, and would be boring to you no matter what. They are not romantically compatible. You were going to charm them one way or another, spell or no spell, to find that out. You won’t make fake love or a love zombie, so don’t get me going on that fairy tale. Their interest in you will pass, just as yours passed with them. You can always kill the spell you cast if you are really eager to get them out of your space. You wanted contact from a person, so maybe you cast a spell to get that contact and they didn’t have anything to say that you wanted to hear. I will bet you $10 if you had called that person on your own without a communication spell, they would still have the same stuff you didn’t want to hear to say to you. You cast a spell for a job you thought you wanted, and it ends up it’s harder and more stressful than you’d realized. If you’d just applied and by chance gotten the same job, it would be equally difficult and stressful, spell or no spell. Disappointment is not a probability, but it is a possibility. However, in most cases, people are more afraid of turning love to hate, work to unemployment, communication to silence, etc.

The above is the tip of the iceberg, but I think I hit some of the more common fears in most types of spellcasting…but, of course, the most common offenders on the fear-sphere are those with love and reconcilation problems. I’ve found people fear losing a person they already broke up with (um, you already lost them, so no need to fear, it’s happened,) they fear the spell won’t manifest, they fear they won’t want what they asked for, they fear change in the situation (this is recon people mostly, and the funny thing is that they fear change since the last change was the break up which was painful,) they fear the passage of time, they fear the spell won’t manifest how they want it to (like it will manifest in some really off way,) they fear the spell will “backfire” (someone could reverse it back onto you, but this is incredibly unlikely and spells do not “backfire,” on their own,) they fear those they perceive as rivals, they fear those they perceive as enemies…I could keep going, but I won’t bore you. Their fear often fuels their anxiety and neurotic worry. Their anxiety and neurotic worry (thinking the spell to death, anyone?) generally kills their spell or slows manifestation.

If we were to take a glance into my inbox, we could see all levels of fear. I’m going to give some examples of things I’ve seen…

For example, if I say to a certain type of person, “Oh, it will take probably about 4 weeks,” this person contacts me on exactly the 28th day, generally to the minute I said “about four weeks.” I swear some of you sit there with a stop watch. πŸ˜‰ About four weeks could actually mean like… 31.45 days. It could mean 26.8 days. “About” doesn’t mean exactly. About means approximately. About does not mean “up to” it means “approximately.” Ah, the time anxiety people… They are their own worst enemies. Until you relax and let the energy go, and give up your fear of time passing…you’re likely to keep waiting, and generally because you’re doing that to yourself. It’s horrible to watch these people keep lengthening their own wait, but if you’re constantly (and I mean more than like…every 10 days,) checking the time against how long you think you should be waiting, you’re probably slowing manifestation.

Another type of issue I find is someone who is so afraid of their spell having some negative effect (generally one which is terribly unlikely,) that they begin assuming everything “bad” in their life is because of the spell. The winner (if there is such a thing,) of the award of “projecting my fear of something bad happening because of my spell, even if it’s obviously an unrelated event,” goes to the girl who asked me for a reconciliation spell, then in the middle of my casting said spell, told me her dog had died and it must be the fault of my spell. If you’re wondering, the dog was very old, and eff no was my spell the cause if the dog’s demise. In this case, the person’s fear of something bad happening is likely slowing the spell energy’s manifestation. (This same person also accused my spell of making her fat, and accused my spell of making her not sleep.)

There are the people who are so anxious about the spell beginning to manifest, that they shoot it in the foot. For example, one person told me they had broken up with an ex about 8 months. Finally, they began to see some manifestation around the 6th month of their spellcastings (which given what I know of the situation wasn’t bad for a newbie spellcaster.) When the target was like “Hey, I miss you!” this person was all over them and asking when they were moving back in. They were so scared “that the spell would end and everything would turn back to what it was the instant manifestation started, so I figured, better get this ‘in the bag as fast as possible,’” that this person scared the target off by being “too much too soon.” (Thanks JF for allowing me to share this, btw.)

I’ve seen people fear any sort of uncomfortable situation to the extent that they will avoid the target, or avoid an interviewer, or avoid a boss because they are afraid the person might say something they don’t like. In doing this, they also avoid what positives may come of having contact with that person.

Many people have reported regular social networking/Facebook spying, where they will look on someone’s page to confirm or refute that someone is seeing someone else or communicating with a possible rival or doing anything at all. πŸ˜› Fear-based spying. Awesome. And what happens when someone says “Hey, I see you visited my profile 361 times in the last 3 days…can I ask why?”
    600px-Expression_of_the_Emotions_Figure_20

The list is endless… The point of my lengthy discussion on fear? Where is it getting you? It’s giving you a longer wait on spell manifestation. It’s stressing you out needlessly. It makes you behave unreasonably. It can keep you up nights. It’s making you worried about events that might not happen. It’s hurting you, it’s hurting your spell…and it’s not making things better for you.

To successfully spellcast, you need to have courage to cast the spell, courage to make the wanted changes, and the faith that it will happen.

I don’t know if this was helpful or just me ranting on fear and anxiety since I have the misery of watching it slow and impede spell manfestation on a daily basis. I do hope it helped (my theory being if you realize your fear isn’t helpful, and the possible source of your fear, you can begin to overcome it,) and if it didn’t help, at least I got the lecture out of my system so I could go forth and write non-lecturey or less lecturey things. πŸ˜‰ Seriously, I could not make an article until I vomited forth this lecture. I kept going back to how useless fear was in everything I wrote (it was like a bad penny that kept coming up)…and in articles where it was rather unrelated to the spell I was discussing. Apparently the chorus of “Cat it’s been 2 hours since I received a text message – is my life over?” got to me and I had to spew a lecture.

    So…at the least, I feel better. πŸ˜‰

  • So, last night after some asshat wasted my time, this person was kind enough to end our conversation by sending me a fucking virus. So, I tried flushing my fucking whore of a computer with anti virus programs. Didn’t do much. So I tried system restoring this morning. This led to me getting what can only be called the “black screen of death” which I can’t do anything with. My computer with all my business emails which are unavailable to anything BUT that computer once they upload to the reader are now inaccessable to me. On the upside, nothing can upload to an email reader on a dead as shit computer, so anything you send me as of now can be read and replied to.

This means if you are one of my million and five readings I have to do today, I will need you to resubmit your phone number or contact details. Judging from the exhaustive list of readings I have scheduled for just today, it sure would be awesome if any of you could slide your readings down to tomorrow, but I wouldn’t expect those scheduled to be so kind to me, so don’t worry if you feel you can’t bear waiting a day.

You know, I’ve spent weeks without a day off. Now that I’ve almost totally caught up (four emails left last night when I got virused,) this shit happens. I am so so so so so sick of this fucking shit. If that computer dies, I can’t afford to replace it. After last week’s joy of “We’re gonna email you for emotional support all week which doesn’t pay you anythng but takes up all your time” and my negative profit from that, I’ll be lucky if I can pay someone to fix the PC. I will probably have to wipe the memory myself which means I lose all my files, and all my emails.

So, anyway, I’m livid and in a homicidal rage. I recommend not getting on my case unless you have a death wish. I only have 4 hours free in the next 24 hours which are not dedicated to spellcasting or readings or sleep so let’s see if I can miraculously revive my computer. If I cannot, I will post limited business hours for next week and cancel all readings services for that week.

If I can fix my PC and shake off my irate demeanor, I will take down this post and give you not one but 2 posts both of which need like one or two paragraphs and are about spells for a change.

Sorry my computer sucks, and sorry dickheads send me viruses intentionally.

**Update 12:15pm Eastern – So….it seems that I *might* be able to fix my computer (I’m working on a family member’s PC, if you wondered,) if I can get some free time. I think I *may* have the solution and if I don’t, well…then if you see a PC tower flying through the air, you know I dropped kicked my computer out of sheer frustration. πŸ˜‰

The best part (sarcasm) of today has been that when I looked for my boot disks, I found the disk to every single thing installed on that PC when I bought it all in one group but NO bootdisks.

Since no one has yet taken pity on me from my reading list and moved their reading down by a day or two, that is likely to take me longer than one day to attempt this possible PC fix. I am still replying to emails (received after 9:30a today anyhow,) doing spells, and doing readings. Please feel free to contact me, I just warn you to please try to be nice and respectful when you do, because I really don’t have the temper right now to deal with rudeness.

***Update 4p Eastern – just got off of the phone with the computer repair guy and he thinks we may be able to repair my evil beast by tomorrow afternoon. πŸ˜€ And apparently my piteous whining has been heard and it will be less expensive than I’d previously thought. πŸ˜€

I am answering a lot of emails on my iPod so if you’re trying to reach me, please forgive me if I have typos for that reason.

Now to soak in a hot bath for a bit. πŸ˜‰

UPDATE November 11, 7:45pm Eastern – Hey everyone, the PC is running again but I do need to reinstall a zillion things. I didn’t have to wipe my entire hard drive, but with the amount of reinstalling, I may as well have. πŸ˜‰ Still I do have all my pictures and iTunes and whatnot, so I am very very very happy. πŸ˜€ Now to put them all in the right places…

Spells are on schedule – LMAO, a few people have asked me that. The answer is of course they are still being cast…I don’t require my PC to cast a spell. Everyone who needed to resubmit info to me did, too. The biggest issues were getting emails and the fact that several of my old emails have been…moved to some file that I am still now trying to locate. πŸ˜‰

I will be back in business early tomorrow. Thanks everyone for being patient. πŸ™‚
