Cat’s Rants: Confessions of an Occult Mastermind

Everything you ever wanted to know about Hoodoo, Rootwork, or the Occult! The internet’s longest running occult blog, established 2004

  • Hey there kids,

It's time for another edition of Questions You've Asked Me, which is basically at least half of my reader's favorite category. πŸ˜‰

Q: What is the longest manifestation phase you've ever heard of and/or have seen?

A: I have known a few stories where a few years passed (and told to me by people not known for telling tall tales,) but, first-hand, without having worked on something in a long time I've seen things where I hit my mark but didn't realize it until years later, however I don't know that I've ever seen something hit more than maybe 6-8 months later. By this I mean, I don't know as I personally would feel the spell is going to manifest after such a delay.

I think, as I said above, the most common problem is the spell hits, but in such a fashion as the petitioner does not see the desired effect, or notice it's impact late after it has effected the target/s. So, you want your boyfriend to be more communicative with you, but what you REALLY want is for him to tell you how he loves and adores you. Instead, you cast this spell, and the guy won't shut up, but he's still not telling you how he loves you…instead he has a passion for football and cars (two things you don't care much about) and that's all he talks about, and for hours now. OK, so that spell did work, it just didn't do what you wanted. That is obvious. However, if you did a spell, for example, to make your ex wracked with guilt over mistreating you, you might never know he or she is devastated even though s/he is absolutely torn up about it, because this person doesn't feel capable or comfortable expressing this to you now that you're broken up. However, since the spell DOES actually hit it's mark, often the results are seen (or discovered) well after they were desired – again with making an ex wracked with guilt, if you found out, 3 years later, that your ex was suicidally upset over you a few years before, and just out of the blue, that isn't the spell manifesting then, it's you finding out it did something then.

Q: You spoke recently about going "against someone's nature" – can you explain that a bit more?

A: Sure. All of us have personalities because we are all "natured" a certain way. Perhaps I don't like to be bossed or smothered, perhaps I tend to become introverted when I am upset, perhaps I require more communication, perhaps I like loud noise (or don't like it), but all of these little tendencies often are part of my nature. So, if I'm someone who is easily smothered, a feeling of being bound to that person (which a binding might elicit in a target,) will make me panic and be uncomfortable. If, by nature, I prefer to be alone, a spell to keep me in your presence all of the time might make me combative and angry. If I tend to become very defensive and angry when I'm sad, to use a spell to make me feel guilt and remorse may even end in an argument. :P

This is why I always say "know your target." You need to consider who this person is and how they are wired. It's why I ask prospective buyers to speak to me about their situation. What works well to get the right response out of one target will be different in another. By trying to guide the influence of the spell WITH someone's nature (rather than against it) I am more likely to create the strongest outcome.

If, however, you need to push someone against their own nature (for whatever cause) try to keep it a temporary influence.

Hopefully that clears things up and doesn't send more worried queries from people who imagine monsters every time I offer advice that points out disaster may ensue if it is not followed. πŸ˜‰ If there is one spot of advice I can give, it's that you will mess up a few times casting spells…it's how you learn to get better. So, if you're spellcasting for yourself, don't fill yourself with fear – dare to do the work, believe you made the right choices and wait for it to manifest…but if you keep hitting the same wall with your manifestations start asking why and see if adjusting your own work will fix the situation to make it how you want.

Q: I need $10k by next week, and I don't even get paid minimum wage because I have no part-time or full time job, nor do I own any possessions which would cost that much, and further I have no skills that anyone will pay me a high hourly rate to provide, MoMoneyso…can a money spell help here?

A: No, probably not. There seems to be a gross misunderstanding that comes up in my inbox every mercury retrograde (though is likely held year round) that a spell for money can somehow create a massive income stream when such an amount is so far outside your sphere of availability that I would recommend deeming that outcome almost impossible.

Money spells DO increase income, but remember this money has to come from somewhere. If you expect that somewhere to be a hole opening up in the sky and dropping a bundle of cash in your lap, you're going to be highly disappointed. If however a promotion, a new job that pays better (that you are qualified to do, but perhaps has been difficult to pin down WITHOUT spells,) increased sales at your business, or even things like large sums owed to you would help a great deal, then you should DEFINITELY try spells to increase money.

I do understand sometimes any one of us can get ourselves into a fix that is well outside of our financial means, and I also understand how it can be fun to dream of being rich (though the reality might not meet the fantasy, depending on how your mind works, heh,) especially if the finances would come to ourselves effortlessly. With the first problem, you might offer prayer to St Expedite or St Anthony of Padua, – both of whom I have found to work very quickly if they are willing to be of help (but be sure to ask for what you need rather than some unnecessary large sum or else you're apt to find yourself without their help.) With the second? I know more hilarious "how I didn't win the lottery" stories from more than one trust worthy spellcaster than I do of stories where someone even won a few thousand dollars using magic to manipulate the odds in their favor. It isn't that occultists don't try for that huge amount of effortless cash…it's that the success there is so small (from what I have seen) and the returns sometimes close to non-existent, that I would really give you a much stronger push towards increasing the streams of income already available to you – better job/better paying job, increased sales, etc., as I have seen these types of workings manifest much more often, and with lasting and favorable results.

Q: How important do you feel timing is when in regards to spellcasting (for example, planetary hours, specific days of the week, moon cycle, solar cycle, etc.)?

A: I really like astrology, but I do understand it a little bit better than the average bear. I am certainly not at the level (or near it) that someone like Christopher Warnock is at in my understanding of astrology, but what knowledge I have gleaned of it on my own has shown me that even a mild understanding of it can better predict – and create – the outcome of a situation.

That aside, I view this as "fine tuning," which is not a view shared by all other spellcasters out there. First, if there is a need, sometimes the only time to do the work is RIGHT THIS SECOND, and that might have to disregard all of these factors like what the sun is doing, what the moon is doing, what Venus is doing, and etc. If such is the case, astrology might be useful in seeing how the manifestation plays out (because all of those planets will have some influence over your work,) after the work has been done, but I would not overly concern myself with those matters if the spell was done out of necessity.

It is better to DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE, than it is to tie oneself up with little details when one is first starting out. This doesn't mean I don't respect timing, planetary influences, or anything like that – I have a great deal of respect for timing with spellcasting, – but the neophyte can easily be overwhelmed in more than one case if they are told it is a necessity to know every movement of the heavens and it's meaning in regards to how auspicious the timing is. Instead, start by familiarizing yourself with the days of the week and their correspondences, and the correspondences of the lunar cycle. We've been over both in here before, so I will, this time, save myself from repetition. πŸ˜‰ When you feel secure with both of these practices and no longer require a book, blog, or another spellcaster to tell you what a Wednesday during the first quarter of the moon cycle is for, now apply planetary hours and learn the correspondences for the solar movement (movement of the sun,) – and when you're secure with both of those practices, then voila! you are now spellcasting with more concern on timing that many adepts.

I guess, in brief, I do feel it is important to recognize how timing can fine tune your results to what you would like, but I also feel that it is more important that you learn to cast the spell (and that is not always easy – that's the main part of the work right there,) without getting worried that if you do it at 5:35pm exactly that hell and brimstone shall rain upon your works for so doing. πŸ˜‰ A lot of the work I cover here on the blog would not bring that outcome, but the fear of a "bad outcome," would stop many of my readers from learning and practicing, which I don't like. :P

Q: You speak a lot on psychological reactions in your work on relationships – do you feel that someone should understand basic psychology to be successful with love magic?

A: I believe that it is only helpful to understand psychology as well as human pair-bonding as well as you possibly can in that situation, but it is certainly not required of you, no. A lot of my written work in understanding love magic, while it does use some psychology, is because I feel people often gloss over the problems causing that relationship to be dysfunctional, which is the cause of needing love spells as is. It never really struck me as helpful to suggest to another that if they just take a few actions that a relationship can be made whole or workable again, because I know from my own experience that love is not enough to make something work. However, if some simple behavioral suggestions can repair a decaying bond (or create a new lasting bond) between two people, then I would rather people have access to that information, rather than using spells as a band-aid to keep drawing someone back while engaging in the same problem behaviors that keep the desired party away.

However, even with no understanding of psychology, I feel people can successfully work love spells on another person. I guess I just try to offer an insight because I feel it's helpful – not because I wish to imply everyone needs to hit a few psych textbooks before trying a love spell. πŸ˜‰

Alrightey, that's all for now, kids. πŸ™‚ Hope to have a new article up for you soon!

  • Hey Occulties,

First, I know I'm tardy in releasing this info – Karen C is my winner for the Amazon.com gift card. I know you have been enjoying it for like 2 weeks now, lol, but now everyone knows you have it. πŸ™‚

So, just something quick today, and this is probably going to make a few of you sad. I'd been discussing this with a few people this week (in those off moments that I have spare time,) and I figured it might benefit the herd. ;)

When working on a person, you must always keep in mind their nature, by which I mean the parts of their personality and emotional make up which are not apt to change. For example, if you want someone to be faithful to you there are all sorts and types of spells for that, but if it is that person's nature to be polyamorous (that is to do the nasty whenever with whoever,) then you are more likely to harm the target using this type of work because you are going against this person's nature. I might "tie a man's nature" so he can only get hard for me, but then if he's really man-whoring all over (because that's how he's wired,) the only solution the spell could find is to break his dick…permanently, so it won't even work for me. Or if I have a man who is to stoic for me, and doesn't like to talk about his feelings, I might try to use spells to make him more open and communicative which, if he was always the type to hold back and keep it in, then forcing him against his nature could mean the spell manifests by giving him a full nervous breakdown from which he never ever recovers.

In either of the above examples, I'd likely be working someone INCREDIBLY HARD to get those outcome, but in the above examples I am still forcing a change which is opposite to the nature of the target, and therefore I am risking harm or disaster by knowingly doing so.

Now, I've said before that any spell might have a "Monkey's Paw," manifestation (that is, you get what you want but in the worst way imaginable,) but if you merely keep in mind a target's nature, you will get a better idea of how to work a problem and if that problem is fixable (or can be changed to a more beneficial situation.) It's an ugly truth, but one I deal with frequently at my job. No one wants to learn that the guy who cheats on his wife to be with you has a wife and a girlfriend all of the time and even if you displace the wife, you would only get that role (and he'd get another girlfriend.) And why? It's his nature. No one wants to know that the liar, or the bigot, or the thief, the non-communicator, etc. is not likely to be getting better…this is a part of who they are.

While I do feel many problems can be HELPED with magic, you will not change someone's nature. Think of it like this….if a river flows north to south but we insist that in flow south to north because we'd like that better, no matter how many machines we put in this river (and it will push the water in the desired direction for a time,) eventually everything will break and that river will go north to south again. The river is someone's nature, the machines are our magic, – and see, eventually it breaks down, and things return to their natural state.

Why is this? Because magic exists to INFLUENCE things how we want them to be. While the influence can create permanent change, it is there to give an opportunity for you to nurture this into a desired change. If I do a spell to get a job, I have to go to that job and do my best work. If I don't, I will lose the job. That would not be the spell's fault, but my own, if I lose that job. This doesn't seem to puzzle people. If I reconcile two people, once they forgive each other, that is permanent. The crime is forgiven. But maybe I'm kind of a jerk and I antagonize my newly-returned ex, and he goes and he bolts. That's not the spell's fault – it's mine. So if I am working on a person, for example, who is a cheater, they constantly want to cheat. No matter how many times I tie and bind that person, inside of them, they want to cheat and as much as you or I want to keep breathing – that's how deep the urge goes. So, as my influence fades (and all spells fade,) that urge to cheat can overpower my influence, and the person goes out and cheats. Or maybe because I keep working against their nature, the influence will come out so the person CANNOT CHEAT (physically) by causing actual harm to their body. The more I demand to go against a person's nature, the more likely the influence will manifest itself in a not so nice way. Think of the river I spoke of above – if you insist something go entirely opposite to how it is supposed to go, your influence will often be limited or disastrous. If you only need an influence to last a short time to create a permanent change, go out and do what you want to make things "the opposite of how they should be," – but if you're thinking you will change a person who has always been how they are with one spell, you risk limited success and disastrous manifestations. Simple as that.

Hope that was helpful and not just me rambling. πŸ™‚

  • Hey Occulties,

I was having this conversation with a few people in the last week, so I figured it might benefit my readers as well.

So when you cast a spell, – especially on another person – you are going to have the greatest amount of impact if effecting this person on an EMOTIONAL LEVEL. The human brain is set up to give a greater amount of attention to any thought or memory with great emotion attached to it.

For example, if you wanted to command me to do a thing, and this thing was that you want me to say the word "Fuck" a lot (apparently you've been working this one for years, haha,) you could use commanding spellwork to send this, but keep in mind, when you do so, this is not attached to any sort of emotional response (probably,) to the command so I will not retain the influence as long as I would if you attached emotion to it. For example, "Cat, every time you hear the word fuck, you become intensely angry," would last longer as an influence as I would begin (emotionally) to associate the word "fuck" with great anger while you worked on me, so even after your spell's influence had passed, I'd still react inwardly to your influence having been conditioned to feel anger (an emotional response) when hearing someone say "fuck."

I find this is often why people have a hard time with straight commanding work, but don't be disappointed if you feel that this means your current work on commanding another will fail. Consider the type of command* – is this something where you need another to take a simple action, or something which will not require a change in behavior? If yes, then you should try a spellcasting method that is a quick influence. If I need so-and-so to pay me back, I might use the command "(name of target), repay all of your debts to me," until this person has repaid me. If, however, the target has continuously stolen, borrowed, etc, and now I have a problem where they are not only in debt to me but incurring injury, I might instead go a bit darker – perhaps "(Name of target,) a deep feeling of fear encompasses you, and makes you restless and deeply morose, every time you hear my name and think of the debts you have incurred with me. Terror destroy your mind until you have paid for everything you have taken from me." Fear is a very strong emotion, and has a tendency to grow. Not only are you trying to command a repayment, but you are attaching a STRONG emotional response so that the target is encouraged to repay everything stolen and borrowed, while simultaneously being conditioned against future borrowing and theft – and with a more long-lasting influence.

Keep in mind, spell energy is made so it completes the task given. It will fade. This is why I always say to work on your problems in the mundane, so that they don't crop up in the future. If you need to reconcile an  ex, but the problem was your difficulty in communicating your feelings, you might bring back the ex, but if you are still verbally constipated and emotionally absent when they do return, you may very well leave again in a short while. You're influencing the person to come back, but if the problems that caused the split aren't addressed, the situation falls apart again.

That's interesting with break ups, – remember, this person who is being "forced" (in some cases) to return (the target) has already been emotionally conditioned against returning to an ex (in general), being with the petitioner (because this person hurt them enough for them to break off the relationship and there will be pain and anger associated with the petitioner in the target's mind, which are VERY STRONG emotions,) so part of the work is often calming the target, warming those love emotions (love is a strong emotion, too,) but you're working against another whole set of memories with strong BAD emotions attached to them, so…that is part of the reason reconciliation magic can be so difficult.

Perhaps I'm just rambling, but hopefully this is some help – for the longest lasting influence when working on others, attach a strong emotional response (preferably one that suits your outcome,) and you will have a spell that really helps change the situation permanently. If you just need a quick action taken, or a short term goal, being more clear and concise in your command (and not worrying about emotions,) often will suit that working better.

Hope that wasn't too much rambling and made sense. πŸ™‚

    ~Cat

*command is being used rather broadly, I admit. The command is often written on a name-paper in Hoodoo, but there are just as many times when it is more or less spoken and not written. If I were straight-up using commanding work on you to, say, eat too much icecream, I might literally be repeating this command over and over while working you (say like using a photo to work you,) and it would be a certain phrase, like "Your name, all you desire is to eat as much ice cream as you can even past the point of feeling sick," and repeat that over and over. I might write that on a name paper 9 times over your name. I may take a few actions. If you do not understand what I mean when I say command after this, I suppose let me know. πŸ˜‰ Those of you who have been spellcasting for more than just a spells will probably understand what I am getting at.

  • Hey Occulties,

While I've written this article several times over the years, it never gets old (because some people are really bad with reading the archives, and even the most practiced among us can use the reminder.)

Let's talk about getting results by getting out of your own way (and yep, I mean stop thinking it to death and having lust for results.)

So imagine 3 identical gardens, with 3 people of equal gardening skill, and all of them tasked to grow an orchid among their other flowers. The orchid is a very difficult and delicate flower to grow, and this gardener (each of them) has a large few acres of flowers to tend (that are not the orchid.) Gardener #1 decides that caring for a single orchid over all of their other plants is too much work, and lets the orchid die, with MOST of his/her garden coming out nicely (except the difficult plants!) at the end of the season. Gardener #2 gives more attention to the orchid (it's his/her most difficult plant!) than to other areas of the garden, but splits his/her time well among the rest of the plants and at the end of the season, his/her garden is well kept, and the orchid still alive. Gardener #3 gets very upset that this orchid COULD die, pays way too much attention to this orchid to the detriment of all other plants under his/her care, fusses with the orchid frequently (shocking and injuring the plant,) sometimes over waters or under-waters the plant in an attempt to correct a perception of having under- or over-watering the plant (which isn't true,) and within 3 weeks of the orchid's arrival, Gardener #3 has stopped really tending to his/her other plants in his/her garden, so that at the end of the season, Gardener #3 has all but the most hardy among the plants dead, and the orchid, having been over-worried, is either dead or on its way there.

The gardens above represent your life.

The orchid is the thing you desire which you are using spellwork to bring into your life (or remove from your life, whichever is applicable.)

    The gardener is you.

So, Gardener #1 is the personality type that gives in too quickly. "This is too hard! I can't deal with this! What in the fuck do you mean I have to do all this stuff to make this happen!!" πŸ˜› So, basically magic might work for these people, but often if it's any difficulty or change of pace for them, they will soon give in and gladly give up on the wanted thing if it means that the added stress of working to get that thing is gone.

And this is the type most frustrated by a simple reality: If you want to make a change in your life, you need to give up something to get that thing MOST OF THE TIME. For example, let's say you always wanted toned abs. Well, so you go to the gym and you consult a trainer and you learn to get really ripped abs, you need to do a certain amount of ab work outs every six days, seven days a week. Some of you would say, "Well, that's not that much time. I can do x amount of ab work every six days," whereas others would be like "Screw that, I hate sit ups" (That's Gardener #1 with his/her orchid,) and yet others would say "I will do 50,000 sit ups this one time and be fit forever, right?" πŸ˜‰ So, the person willing to give up, let's say, 20 minutes a day, six days a week will have great abs, the person who refuses to make any change or who is easily put off by change will probably never have toned abs (unless Nature was giving gifts out when he or she was born,) and the final person who did 50,000 sit ups will have puked their guts out at 1500 sit ups (or thereabouts,) and then wonders why he or she doesn't have instantly toned abs.

Spellwork to bring someone or something into your life can be quite similar as those "toned abs" though. If you want to bring a person back to you, what are you going to change to make it work this time? If you are trying to bring more income in are you prepared to work more? Are you willing to maintain these changes in behavior, this alteration in free time, etc to maintain the change? If not, whatever you worked to bring into your life has no reason to stay there.

So if you're type 1, you want change but refuse to make changes in your life, you give up easily, the end result is…well, forget whatever you wanted, it takes a desire to change AND effort and that's too much to ask for some people. You aren't thinking the work to death, you're just kind of lazy. πŸ˜‰

Gardener #2 is "the good gardener" in this parable. While the "orchid" (whatever the spell is bringing/removing/etc – the manifest outcome,) is relatively well kept, the rest of the garden has also blossomed and is fruitful. This is because the whole garden is being tended, not just the specific small area with the most difficult plant. This gardener slightly altered his/her routine to give care to the orchid and make sure it was kept well while also being sure to care for all of the other plants in his/her garden, thereby enjoying the most fruitful outcome.

It's important to remember when we're focused on any goal (or outcome a spell is working to manifest) that we don't lose focus of the rest of our life….which brings us to Gardener #3…

Because Gardener #3 embodies lust for results/thinking the work to death. Not only is #3 so overly-concerned with the well-being of his/her orchid, he/she has let the whole garden become brown with only a few struggling plants still holding on, but has also worried the orchid to the point that it, too, is close to death, therefore reaping the least benefit from his/her garden over #1 or #2.

Remember, your ENTIRE LIFE is important. If you only tend to one tiny part of it, and let the rest fall into disrepair, ask yourself, what is left of your life when you get that desired thing? If all three of the "gardeners" in our example are selling their harvest at the end of the season, then only #1 and #2 will have anything to show for it. #3 will have a sick orchid that's rapidly fading (and probably won't be much help,) and a few sick looking plants. πŸ˜› This is the same with magic – maybe you want this desired thing SO VERY MUCH, and you're willing to devote your time and energy into having it, but you can't focus on it to the detriment of all other things in your life.

So, when you have lust for results or think the work to death, all too often you're letting other parts of your life fall apart for having too much time taking up over-tending to one part of it, and much like a delicate orchid, if you fuss with anything in your life enough, it will injure and cripple that part from being overly-attended to.

Often, the key for avoiding lust for results is to focus on parts of your life outside of what you're spellcasting towards, while making sure you're maintaining/altering your lifestyle in such a way that when the spell manifests, you will keep what you want (having made the right changes to yourself/your lifestyle, etc, – and this can be as simple a thing as accepting more hours at your job, or being willing to show up an hour earlier, or letting someone initiate more contact than you do, or speaking less critically to a person.) Don't focus too closely on that one aspect you're trying to change – instead ready yourself for the change you're trying to bring into your life.

Hope that was sensible and some help and didn't come off as a platitude. πŸ˜‰

  • Hello my lovies!

It's time for another edition of questions you've asked me. While several (if not all) of these questions may be (and probably are) review for many of you, I do get them in my inbox enough even now for me to post them up for you again. πŸ˜› If you have an original question or you have a concern, PLEASE let me know. While answering you one on one might be prohibitive on time, I'm usually more than happy to use it in an article, so if you're fine with that, let me know. πŸ™‚

Q: I'm confused here – most workers I've spoken to say it's absolutely a bad idea to have multiple workers spellcasting on a situation, but then some say it's OK. If I've asked you or my worker if it's OK if I do (named spell) while they spellcast, they usually feel it's fine. What gives? Why is it "rude" or "dangerous" to have 2 or more spellcasters working on my situation?

A: In regards to it being rude, it is definitely poor form to have to professionals who are not co-consulting working on a problem. If I hire 6 lawyers for the same problem, and don't let each of them know they are all working together on this (because they don't even know each other,) I'm not only wasting their time, I'm wasting the court's time, and there is a lot of stuff being done multiple times, not necessarily more effectively. It also tells each lawyer (once they discover I've hired six for the same problem,) that I don't trust them to be competent in their duties. It actually says a lot of rude things to those I've hired without directly saying "none of you are competent or good enough to do this individually and I don't trust any of you." In reality, if you have a team of lawyers working on your case THEY ARE ALMOST ALWAYS FROM THE SAME FIRM AND WORKING TOGETHER, which, if you hire 3 spellworkers (with the intention to have them co-consulting, to which they agreed to co-consult,) they probably don't mind working as a team.

However, keep in mind, you DO NOT want the reputation of the client who runs all over the internet getting different workers on their problem. Most legit workers will not bother with you, and yeah, clients get reputations. There are a few people so awful, they are downright famous to spellcasters everywhere. Bad enough that several people are naive enough to believe review sites are helpful or real (and that gives your worker insight about you if it's your source for finding a worker,) but even worse when your name is already known and you have a bad reputation. At least workers don't post review sites about clients, and believe me, several of my readers would shudder in fear to see the most disreputable of the clientele some of us get if we workers reviewed clients online. So, there is a real risk of getting a bad reputation if you run all over the internet buying spells, and if you get that reputation, you'll only be serviced by people not doing the work (a.k.a., charlatans.)

In regards to it being dangerous, well it very well can be. Think of your case a bit like a medical problem. So, if you see 4 doctors, none of them aware that you are seeing all four, and take the medication each of them prescribes for your problem, understandably, you could die. Now, I've spoken with you all on this matter before, but it's basically that all spells have particular triggers. Let's say, for example, I do a spell to make your ex anxious and obsessed with needing to go back to you because you want him or her to come back and they've been digging their heels in hard about returning, despite admitting they still love you a great deal. Meanwhile you hire someone else and he or she does a spell to calm your ex, because he or she feels that part of the problem is your ex is too afraid of commitment. Maybe he or she does some love work, too, but he or she has used calming and healing and protective work, thus negating my trigger to send your ex back to you. While it's not "dangerous" there, it just rendered a ton of (expensive) work useless.

Some years ago, I had a client who was working with several people for the same problem/s she was having me work on. The problems were multiple here, but in brief, the client had several boyfriends, was working on all of them, and as best I can understand she had multiple workers on each man. So, while one worker would work a spell to make my client and boyfriend 1 be protected from outside influences and be the perfect couple, then another worker would cause lust in boyfriend 2 to have him chase her around, and then I'd be working this other fellow here to come back to her because he couldn't think to be with another woman. Well, guess what? Lawsuits, restraining orders, violence, OH MY! I don't know how many men this girl was seeing, but if one of her couplings was protected, as per the example, the other 2 were throwing themselves at her and getting angry and even a bit violent for being prevented from being with her. It was a huge mess, and the client would complain that her situation was worsening when she was the reason for it.

YOU SHOULD NEVER WORK WITH A WORKER WHO SAYS IT IS FINE TO HAVE OTHER WORKERS CAST SPELLS ON YOUR SITUATION WITHOUT CO-CONSULTING ON THE PROBLEM. While it may be a case of naivety on the part of the worker, because a lot of people starting out don't think about what can happen until they have a few spells they cast seem to go completely wrong for a client who's running all over the internet buying spells, you should still consider that the spellcaster in question is still too naive to know that multiple spellcasters WHO ARE NOT CO-CONSULTING can make your situation worse if they all spellcast upon it.

As for you working alongside me (or your worker) – if you're telling me what you're doing, I usually know if it won't interfere. πŸ˜‰ It's like asking your doctor if it's OK to take Advil with your medication. Your doctor would know if ibuprofen is going to effect your medication, just like I'm going to know if that spell you're doing is going to effect what I'm doing. There is a good chance it won't be harmful, sure, but best if you run it by your worker if it's OK for you to do some work, too, and then specify what work you'd be doing. πŸ™‚

Q: Why do you instruct people casting curses not to "openly or in any way visibly antagonize the target?"

A: The idea is that you should not in any way be connected to the downfall of your enemy, so that you are blameless. If I rarely if ever say anything negative to or about so-and-so, no one will in any way assume I had anything to do with this person's downfall or misfortunes. If I am constantly on this person's case, I could easily be seen as a key player in their problems, and, through this, create problems for myself.

But it is also wise to consider that you could easily be getting in the way of the spell. If, for example, I wanted an enemy to be publicly shamed, and within a social group I inhabit, my antagonism of this person could make them hang out with the social group less often, therefore giving my spell less chance to manifest.

Q: Someone told me that you said the most stupid question during a reading is "Does s/he love me?" – but why?

A: Usually the answer is yes the person loves the person asking me if they do, but it has no bearing as to whether or not they are coming back, what their next action will be, if they will do what the querent wants, etc. I love a lot of people I don't speak to by choice, because we were toxic to each other, – but I love them all the same. I love people I will never date again, though I give them friendship. Love isn't enough to make something work, and the person asking it knows fully well the person loves them, they are just asking (often several times) during a reading because they want to be reassured while they complain. Does so-and-so love me? Oh, s/he does? Then why is so-and-so blocking me on social media? Why aren't they taking my calls. Well, that they love you doesn't mean they want to speak to you right now, for example. Loving you doesn't mean they always like you.

So, it's a stupid question because it has very little bearing on the rest of the situation - USUALLY. If the person asking it, and the person it is asked about, did not love each other, usually a reader wouldn't be taking that call.

Readers understand that you're sad and that you're insecure, but if you have to ask that (and many people do,) try asking some helpful questions that are not basically "how do people who feel love for other people do things I personally find hurtful?" because that is a philosophical discussion. πŸ˜‰ Instead, ask HOW can I get so and so to communicate with me, or HOW can I change this situation so he or she will change his or her mind about not coming back. USEFUL questions will make that reading worth your investment!

Just bitching that someone loves you but isn't doing what you want despite loving you is not really effective in helping you change your situation….and I think that is why most readers (myself included) hate that question. Yes they love you, yes they are being mean to you – would you like it to change? Then stop dwelling on that they can love you and be mean, and ask how to change the situation to improve your life for the better.

Q: Is Florida water for cleansing and keeping spirits at bay?

A: While I'd actually say you could use it in a cleansing sense depending on the type of cleansing you're doing, or use it in a blessing, spirits LOVE Florida Water, so using it to banish them is about as sensible as turning on the brightest light possible in an effort to scare away moths and other insects.

Q: Is it wrong to ask for money or additional income from money spells? Isn't that evil and selfish?

A: No, not at all. There is nothing wrong with wanting more income, or needing some extra money this month to cover your bills, or hoping you can have dinner tonight. How is that "selfish?" When a homeless person asks me for change, I don't feel they are being selfish in asking me for my help so they can eat tonight. In many ways, you're just asking the universe for something very similar. There is nothing evil in wanting to live more comfortably, or wanting to pay your bills, and in fact, it's a normal, non-selfish desire to want to provide for yourself and/or your loved ones. Perhaps that's an opinion, but I hope it is one people share with me.

HOWEVER keep in mind that spells to increase income rarely make for windfall amounts of cash. I've said it multiple times before, but I'll say it again – you'll find an increase in your finances, but if you expect $10k overnight when you work at a fast food restaurant and have no education and no specialized skills, you're very likely going to be quite disappointed when all that happens is you get 50 cents more an hour (because that's about the limit your employer has for giving you a raise,) or you're offered a job that will make you $3k more per YEAR than your current employer gives you. πŸ˜› Maybe you'll win $50 on a $2 scratch off, and that's a 25x return on your investment so the Universe will be satisfied it gave you a really nice return on your request. $50 isn't going to get you too far these days.

Q: Does the particular shade of color of my candles make a difference?

A: I think so. A deeper (as opposed to lighter) shade of pink is more sexy and romantic than a pale pink in effect of energy. A yellowey-orange as opposed to a middle orange or red orange is superior for communication and friendship. I do not use pale violet for anything, though I presume it would be good to use with Goddess/Moon style workings.

Try to use a shade most suitable to your working, especially if it is a secondary (a primary color which is red, yellow, or blue mixed with another primary color, again – red, yellow, or blue to make a second color), or tertiary (a secondary color mixed with a primary to make yet another color) and unless you are specifically seeking pink, grey/silver, or light blue avoid colors which are not pure hues (not mixed with black or white) if possible. Tints (colors with white added) are not always as effective, in my opinion, but again, if you're trying to use pink (white and red) or light blue (blue and white,) you're specifically looking for a tinted color in that case, and that advice may not always be true.

I hope that helps, and that I was not more confusing. πŸ˜‰

Q: I've seen you complain that people are overly-communicative, and so now I fear that I might be that way to my worker. Can you elaborate?

A: Sure. Basically, first understand that I learned spellwork and did all my own spells without anyone to cry to pretty much for the entirety thereof, so you're approaching someone who, through most of her experience, had no one to comfort, console, help, plan, direct, get any advice from, etc, so I already view the availability of speaking to your worker as a luxury I would never know. I would think – perhaps erroneously, – that most workers have a similar experience. This means when someone is plaintive that something is working slowly, I am concerned on the level of being a merchant and worker, of course, but on the other hand, it's often NOT working slowly, and what this person is doing is trying to get some reassurance, which becomes HUGELY IRRITATING when it happens frequently. Allow me to give an example.
Cat: So, don't contact the target.
Client: Did you mean I can't call so and so?
Cat: Yep, a call is contact.
    Client: Does this include texts?
Cat: Yes, this includes texts as they are a form of contact
Client: What about commenting on their social media
Cat: That is also definitely a form of contact.
Client: So I can't contact the target?
Cat: Right, as I said, don't contact the target.
Client: But I haven't spoken to (target) in four days! Why do I deal with this? Is this normal? Do people really go for four days without speaking to the person that they love?
Cat: Yes, all of the time, and often without being upset about it. I have been in relationships where it wasn't abnormal to speak maybe once a week. I wasn't alarmed.
Client: But (target) used to speak to me every day!
Cat: Yes, because you lived together. Just don't contact the target.
    Client: Are you sure?
    Cat: Yes.
Client: Are you sure you're sure?
    Cat: Yes.
Client: Cat, are you sure about that don't contact the target thing?
    Cat: (doesn't reply)
Client: Cat? Why haven't you replied
Cat: You've been asking me the same question that the answer doesn't change to for the last 3 days. Don't contact the target. Don't contact the target. No, there is no exception, don't contact the target.
    Client: You're mean. 😦
Cat: You do realize I have 50 other people to talk to and I'm repeating myself to you constantly, right?
Client: Oh. So I can't contact the target yet?
Cat: No, don't contact the target.
Client: Does it normally take this long?
Cat: five days is not long
Client: What is a long time?
Cat: Multiply your current wait by 8. That might be a bit long.
    Client: 13 days?
    Cat: Multiply don't add. 5 * 8 = 40 days.
Client: Can I contact the target? At 40 day's wait?
Cat: Why don't you let me know if it's been 40 days and we will look into it.

If you think this can go on forever, it does. It's a huge waste of my time, and it's very annoying. It lets me know the client is thinking the work to death, that they have no respect for me or the rest of my clients whatsoever, and that they think whining will speed the work up, as if I'm the work and annoying me to death will change the outcome. It won't.

    Then there is this:
Client: Cat, do you think (target) is difficult/special/strange, or that my situation is difficult/special/strange
Cat: I've seen similar many times before. I don't think so, no.
Client: Why would (person) do this? Why would this or that happen? How do spells work? How can I do this?
Cat: (3 pages of reassurance and explanations,) so I hope that puts your heart to rest.
Client: But why? WHY WHY WHY WHY?
    Cat: I explained why.
    Client: is there any hope?
Client: I had a thought today, I'm dying!?
Client: I had a dream last night!!!!!!
Cat: Look, you just need to relax and let things happen.
Client: I saw my ex's very common name on movie credits – IS IT A SIGN!?
    Cat: No.

That also goes on for weeks. And surprisingly, it's not actually my job to reassure you or deal with constant kvetching about your situation. Let's compare this to something else.
Patient: Doctor, what should I expect post-operation?
Doctor: Well, you're going to have tenderness and swelling for about 3 weeks. Over the counter medication should help.
Patient: Doctor is my body weird? Will I heal weird?
Doctor: No, you seem pretty average. I'm not worried.
    Patient: I'm tender!
Doctor: Yes, as I said you'd be.
    Patient: I have swelling!
    Doctor: Yep, very normal.
Patient: I'm dying! I think I am rotting! Oh my God I HAD TO TAKE A MOTRIN! WHY!
Doctor: All very normal. You're not dying!
Patient: I had a dream I died! Is this scab a sign of gangrene! Do you know the capital of Luxembourg? My cat is named Mittens – is that weird! Can I call you at 2am!
Patient: I still am tender like 2 days later!
    Patient: Is healing itchy!?
Patient: It's still red three days later!
Doctor: Yes, I told you it would be like this for up to 3 weeks. You have no gangrene.
Patient: Call me so we can talk?
Patient: Is it OK to pick this scab?
    Doctor: Don't pick the scab
Patient: Can I pick it a little?
Doctor: NO, don't pick the scab.
Patient: I had a dream I died again. Am I dying?

And again, yes, this is no exaggeration. Even if you THINK it's important, it probably isn't. I've had 10 page emails over a 2 line text that had no deep meaning. I've had full novels written on someone's demeanor during a 60 second conversation. I've been told I'm supposed to reassure someone and give them a pep talk (actually that's not my job,) and then gotten a lot of shit from that person when I was like "I just tried twice to reassure you and pep you up, and you're still negative and draining, so deal with yourself, because 2 times in one day when it's not my job to do either was enough."

What your worker is there for is to cast your spell, answer a few questions about the spell, and give you directions. However many people get confused and think the worker is their best friend or something. It is not their job to think positively for you, it is not their job to "unscare" you when you worried yourself into a panic, it is not their job to reassure you and hold you and pet your head, and it's not their job to basically answer long philosophical discussions on spellcasting. You didn't hire a slave. You hired someone to cast a spell for you. That MOST workers don't  mind a bit of reassurance and a few pep talks during the manifestation phase is true, but you should not ever be emailing someone frequently to complain.

If the spell doesn't work, most workers will ask a few questions to determine a possible reason, and you may even get a free redo…but if you cried, and whined, and complained the whole way through, you thought the work to death, and you probably annoyed the shit out of your worker…that's what overcommunicative clients do, and since you killed your own spell AND annoyed your worker to death, good luck getting anything redone for free. :P

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE VAST MAJORITY OF CLIENTS ARE NOT THESE PEOPLE. I love most of my clients. They don't bitch a lot, they are patient, and they don't go out of their way to take up a ton of my time over trivial concerns or "I thought a thought today" type inquiries. They are strong people who have the emotional wherewithall and the intelligence to take care of themselves. But if you see yourself in any of the above examples – STOP BEING THAT PERSON. And you know why? BECAUSE WE CAN ALL BECOME THE WHINY HELPLESS PERSON, AND EVERYONE HATES WHINY HELPLESS PEOPLE. Get ahold of yourself, and try to stop being that person. I can become that person. That girl over there can become that person. This guy over that way could be that person, but we should all strive not to be. Yeah, if you have a valid problem or concern, have it addressed. If you're just contacting someone over every trivial thought, action, problem, etc…you're being unhelpful, annoying, and you're probably killing your spellwork, too. Simple as that.

If you don't want to be annoying, exercise self control, stop boiling yourself into a panic attack, and have the maturity to deal with trivial occurrences.

That's all for this edition of Questions You've Asked Me. I ***MIGHT*** be running the Questions You've Asked Me Contest next month, so stay tuned.

  • Hey Occulties,

While I'm sure this will read as a ton of platitudes, I do realize sometimes we all need me to point out something nice (you know that isn't like my previous post where I want to punch UPS in the balls.) πŸ˜‰

This month has been pretty amazing with manifestations. A lot of stuff I did in May sort of paid out slowly and I wasn't pleased with that. I had a lot of complaints because in many cases it wasn't messy love work, and it should have been happening a lot faster. So, every day in July – and I mean every single day, – I get someone thanking me, and telling me I got them exactly what they wanted.

This might surprise you, but I don't usually know if I hit my mark until someone orders from me a second time. People don't update me more than maybe one out of every ten times when they get what they want. They'll sometimes complain practically daily until they get what they want, but never tell me I got it for them until they need something new. This month has been different.

And that means a lot to me. I work REALLY HARD at this job, with my average business day going 12-14 hours. There is only one of me, and that's why you wait 6 days to hear from me sometimes, because 10 other people are on a crying jag, and I have to write up 2 articles for this or that, and also I have to go buy this, that, and the other thing which involves a 10 mile journey, half of it on foot, etc etc. So every time someone thanks me it makes this job worth it. And this is a high-stress job, so even one person telling me I got something they've wanted for so long to come into their life can make the worst day ever into the best day ever. I can't please everyone – some people are never happy with anything anyhow, – but if I can change even one person's life for the better, that means the world to me.

So thank you to everyone who updated me in July to tell me that you have exactly what you asked me for. You've really made me a lot happier than you realize. It's not easy to wait for manifestation, and I understand this entirely because like many of you, I've had to wait for a spell for something I wanted VERY VERY DEARLY to manifest into my life, and during my wait I was anxious to have what I wanted (which, yes, I'm admitting I also get lust for results sometimes, haha.) So many of you are a gift to work for, and I appreciate it so much that you took the time to let me know the outcome. It means so very much to me.

Alright, I'll try to get some spell or bit of wisdom up shortly. Ew, squishy nice emotions and in a public place…wouldn't want everyone to know I'm not that mega-bitch I have the reputation for being, haha. ;)

  • Hey clients,

If you want to mail me something you are not to use UPS. The delivery guy has put 2 notices on my door without knocking (I'm sitting five feet from the door, he doesn't knock) then shot a postcard through without knocking. So I called UPS who thought to make me drive ten miles out of the city for something which I don't know who sent it to me, what it is, or why it requires my signature, when I don't drive. I'm not paying a cab to drive me out of the city when I was sitting right the fuck here and no one bothered knocking, and for something I don't know what it is.

Until UPS gets a capable delivery driver who knocks (which is a problem I experience only with their service,) you are not to send me ANYTHING via UPS. I actually have worked with people who work for UPS, and it hurts me to say it, but up your game in the Northeast because your drivers are legendary for this shit. MOST companies deliver with signature to the office downstairs OR they knock. This is the 5th or 6th time UPS has done this to me in the last 18 months, and I try to avoid their service, especially with signature confirmation, so that should tell you something.

Anyhow, sorry if that upsets anyone's plans, and if you mailed something to me via UPS, it's leaving 2 towns over (where I won't be picking it up,) on the 15th. If you mailed me something and I've not told you it was received, then expect it to return to you. πŸ˜›

  • Hey my Occulties,

Time for everyone's favorite here – a love spell. I know a lot of you have been asking me for a new one to be posted up.

PRE-EMPTIVELY – THE SUBSTITUTION FOR ANY SINGLE ITEM OR ACTION IN THIS SPELL IS TO FIND A SPELL (ON YOUR OWN) THAT YOU CAN FIND ALL THE ITEMS FOR AND DO ALL THE ACTIONS OF THE SPELL. I am not going to give out substitutions (I never have) or free hours of spell coaching because you want this spell and can't manage to do some part of it. πŸ˜› I hate having to say that but people relentlessly abusive my good nature with such questions and have for over a decade.

    You will need:
A new earthenware vase (just pottery, glazed is fine, having never been used for anything before, but preferably with a narrow opening).
Something belonging to your desired person
    Dirt from your yard*
    Sugar
    A magnet
Powdered licorice root (if it's just shreds, that's fine, but full sticks may be unweildy)
    Rose petal (red or pink)
    Alkanet root (chips or powder)
    Come To Me oil
    A bowl for mixing
    A permanent marker
A pink (more romantic) or red (more sexual) candle that can fit into the mouth of the earthenware vessel** preferably a taper candle.

In a bowl, mix about two tablespoons of table sugar, two tablespoons of licorice root, 1 cup rose petal, 3 teaspoons alkanet root, and about 2.5 cups of dirt. This is going to make a lot, so you may want to use a large bowl. Hold your hands over this before blending, and say "In this soil I sow the seeds of desire for me, (your name) in the heart and mind of (target's name) to grow stronger than any weed. (Target's name,) the more you resist the temptation to be with me, the stronger the urge to make love to me becomes." Now add 3-7 drops of Come to Me oil in the bowl. Blend this together evenly (yep, you can use a spoon,) while you say "(Name of target,) I warm your heart, I pull you by the hand, by the foot, by the (pussy/dick/cock, vagina – whatever you'd use to describe their genitalia,) and by the head to come to me and give me all of your affections," repeating this statement a total of SEVEN TIMES.

Pour this into your earthenware vessel to fill it about half full, then, take the personal item belonging to your target. I like to use worn clothing (especially underpants) here, but that might not be possible for you.*** If possible (again, this will depend on the item you have,) tie this around a magnet which you have inscribed your name, and say, as you tie the item "(Full name of target), I pull you to me, by the hand, by the foot, by the (genitalia,) and by the head – with the constant pull of the magnet I draw you to me irresistibly, that the more you try to resit the urge to give me all of your affections, the stronger the urge becomes. Be drawn to me now, (name of target,) hear my voice," (breathe on the magnet, personal item) "and come, for I call you to me." Place the item into the pot. Now fill the pot to the top with the rest of your dirt/herb mixture.  IMG_0169

Anoint UP (base to wick) your candle making six dashes on the candle to mark 7 equal parts. As you anoint this upwards using seven strokes of your hand, envision your target coming to you, asking for your affections, being affectionate and flirtatious. Now place the candle into the mouth of the vessel.

    The ritual:
This ritual is best started on a Friday during the first half of the moon, in the hour of Mars when it is dark, then on the following six days performed in the hour Venus when the sky is dark except for possible moonlight.

You may use a picture of the target as a visual aid if this is helpful during the ritual.

+Light the candle, and say, facing this candle and envisioning your target full of love and desire, and begging you to make love to them, "(Full name of target,) I call you to me, to come to me, to give me all of your love and affections and call you to seek me out for love making. Every thought you have is drawn to me, every desire for love makes you think of me. You long to caress me and hold me and kiss me." Now raise up both hands so that they are on either side of the vessel and say, "Come now, immediately, (name of target,) come to me now and give yourself to me, with your heart overflowing with desire and love and affection for me. Have no peace nor any rest until you come to me and give your love and your affections to me. I pull you by the hair, by the hand, by the heart, by the (gentalia,) by the foot that you come to me now, on this instant, as is my will, so be it!" + (people always ask, so yeah, you're done with the chant, drop your hands, stop envisioning.) ;)

Optional, when you claim to be "pulling" the target, make pulling motions with both hands towards your body. This isn't needed, just the raised hands is fine, but actually envisioning pulling the target to you while making these motions and seeing them in your mind's eye as being overwhelmed with need for your affections will strengthen the pull upon them.

Allow the candle to burn to the mark on it. Repeat the directions from + to the next +, allowing the candle to burn to the next mark for a total of seven days and on the seventh day, allow the candle to burn out. If the person comes to you seeking you before the final day, continue the ritual all the same to keep their passion for you strong. If the person does not come to you before you finish, hide the jar in your bedroom closet, and once every friday in the hour of mars, burn a birthday candle on the opening of the vase (preferably red or pink) dressed in Come to Me oil to keep the magnetic draw strong. If you are not horribly alienated from this person (or, not to be a dick, if they are not so outside of your Sphere of Availability as to be unreachable,) they should come and this should not be a "forever lighting candles" problem. It may be reused as needed (using a birthday candle instead of the seven day working), and works wonderfully for couples where one is more passionate than the other (to heat up the cooled down party) as well.

I'm sure I'll have questions. πŸ™‚ Otherwise, you all enjoy that! πŸ˜€

    ~Cat

COPYRIGHT STRICTLY ENFORCED. REWARDS GIVEN FOR CATCHING PLAGIARISTS, (thanks for all of the times in the past, everyone!) I WILL SIC DEMONS AND BAD THINGS ON YOU IF YOU USE MY WORK IN ANY OTHER WAY THAN GETTING MY WRITTEN PERMISSION TO DO SO.

*Inevitably, someone will go "Cat, boo, I live in the city/in an apartment/in the middle of a parking lot, and I'm absolutely incapable of creative reasoning or logical type deductions, so this is IMPOSSIBLE!!!" And I will wish horrible things like that they step on a Lego today, and that they later find they bit into a large spider while eating a sandwich. Then I'll remember, anyone who has learned helplessness and can't figure out anything on their own is never going to be better than competent at spellcasting, since it requires intelligence, self-sufficiency, and adaptability, and a moment of smugness will make me no longer wish horrors upon them. πŸ˜‰ So, anyhow, to prevent someone asking me this question, let's just be clear…some of us live in the city and yeah, dirt? Yard? Or maybe you have housing where your yard is a parking lot. So instead, you find at least a LITTLE BIT of dirt from a place you walk over to get to your apartment. If it's like you always walk in a park to get there, get it from there. If there is a little patch of it here next to tree by the sidewalk you use to get into your place, get it there. Anywhere where there is a little dirt that you can get even a spoonful of it, you get that, and you mix it with a little potting soil – as in yeah, that soil you pot houseplants in. πŸ˜‰ Aren't you so glad you didn't ask me so I could wish that when your umbrella opened, it would rain spiders on you? πŸ˜‰ And if you SHARE a yard, it's still your yard, so go get some dirt out of there.

**First, yes, it should fit into that opening, but that's not where I'm giving you some stars. πŸ˜‰ Look, this could be a fire risk, and I've always been into fire safety. I want all of you to remember that when this burns down, you should watch it at the end part as it sputters out IN CASE YOU NEED TO PUT IT OUT. I don't want anyone falling asleep and having their home burn down because a lot of things in that clay pot are going to be flammable. So, if you get to the end of this candle and it looks like it's catching on what's in the vase, take a spoon (or a large flat-bottomed pan if the opening is too large for a spoon) and smother the flame. It's OK, and the spell should still work. You can burn a little (self-contained) tea light where the candle was if you'd like a candle to burn out properly after the first candle has burned out (but had to be smothered) if it makes you feel the spell is more complete if a candle burns itself out. And remember, if you're ever in any spell situation where a fire has started (and I mean an unintentional fire, not that a little flame is properly on your candle's wick,) your home and your safety mean 1000x more than your spell. You can redo a spell. Smoke damage, fire damage, death, destruction? Those are a lot harder to overcome.

***People want to know what works best and frankly a physical trace of someone is the best. Yeah, pictures are easy to get, but fingernail/toenail clippings, head hair, pubic hair, worn clothing, used bandages, dried menses or semen – these are all great. Try to get an actual item from this person if you can. I know some of you are going to attempt to seduce someone with this spell who you hardly know, so pre-emptively, no, a picture of a singer or movie star will not get their affections, and you really should know the person you're trying this on well enough that they know your name and are at least friendly towards you. πŸ˜›

  • Hey Occulties,

As I'm sure it comes as no surprise to many of you, a great deal of my life every day is spent talking to people who are doing love spells or who are having love spells cast for them. So, while I probably put one of these kinds of articles out every year to every other year, let's talk about love spells.

Remember this article, and this article are both very helpful. Please read both.

But let's talk about what I've seen in 2016, shall we? Because, my lovely ladies and handsome gentlemen, I am like a solider with the 5-mile stare right now when it comes to what I've seen just this year. :P

Let's start with the most common problems and at the bottom, I'll move on to some less-common problems.

The ONLY TIME panic is useful in any spellwork situation is if you're the target, not the petitioner (person who the spell is being cast on behalf of.) I'm sure it doesn't miss anyone reading this blog, but I help a lot of people casting spells, and in some cases, people want to know "is this person" (who isn't me) "that I hired doing the work?" Well, while if you're not my client, you should bring your issues to the merchant who you paid to deal with them, this often turns into "HOLY SHIT, CAT, I'M FREAKING OUT!!! OMG!" somewhere in there, and every time, I say the same thing – panic is useless. Even if the spellcaster you hired did NOT ONE THING, then you're making the situation worse. If the person you hired did THE MOST AMAZING SPELL EVER CASTED EVER IN A MILLION YEARS, then you're making it not work as well. If you cast the spell, you're doing the equivalent of tying yourself to the very thing you want, and then running in the opposite direction off a cliff, then complaining you died when everything you hoped for fell over on you and killed you. :P

Am I not making sense? Fine, as you might see in the linked articles above, panic and worry are the antithesis of manifestation. They drive it away. And the thing is, it is not actually anyone's job but your own to stop your worrying, which includes your spellcaster, some other spellcaster not involved in your case, your mom, your best friend….all of these people have their own problems, and YOU are the one who has to get ahold of YOURSELF.

I like to crack up my clients with how I've thought a few SITUATIONS that I wasn't even spellcasting on unto death, so don't think anyone (even me) is immune, but the best thing you can do is to let the situation go, have faith it will work (worry is not faith, thinking it to death is not faith, panic is not faith,) and let everything happen as it should. Panic and worry are the NUMBER ONE REASON ANY SPELL FAILS which is why I linked 2 articles and repeated that topic first. πŸ˜‰

IMG_1062The quality of your materials SHOULD BE top quality. Believe it or not, machine squirted "ritual oils" (Brands like Anna Riva, or Indio) are as useless as the cheap fragrance oil that they contain. There is NO essential oil, no one crafted this by hand while chanting proper prayers, there are no herbs within. It's garbage, and using this in your spellwork means you have NO ASSISTANCE WHATSOEVER from the tool of the oil you're using past perhaps an olefactory (smell) aid to the person casting the spell. Dusts and powders ARE NOT STRAIGHT TALCUM. I don't know the amount of times I've seen someone calling blue talcum Goofer Dust. Goofer Dust is graveyard dirt, bugs, salt, rust, cayenne sulfur, snake skin…it's a lot of nasty things, but it sure as shit is not colored talcum, and…as far as using it in a love spell, I'm sure someone does, but I would not. It's for killing and harming people. Love powder is not pink talcum or red talcum. Dirts and powders are made of herbs, dirts, salts…and while some do use talcum as a "carrier agent" you should be able to easily make out the powerful herbs the powder contains.

So, if you're finding your work is floundering and you're doing the work yourself, get some better tools. What are tools? They are the oils, the incenses, the "nuts and bolts" that make up the machinery of the spell, or help you cast the spell. It could very well be upping the grade of your tools will be what makes this spell come together for you. While that and "Lust for results" are not love-spell specific, they are 2 of the most constant problems I see with ANY spellcasting.

If everything keeps falling sideways, you might need to take a cleansing spiritual bath! Spellcasting and having spells cast upon you can help lead to a faster build up of what I might call psychic residue. What is this? Basically, all of us in our day to day life deal with trauma, upset, other people's feelings, our own feelings, and this builds up a residue in our aura. Think about it like if you were a pretty clean person, but you never washed your skin off, or washed your hair. Eventually, you're going to be covered in a stink, no matter how clean you are, just because you're a living being and you sweat, you come in contact with dirt and grime, so…you do bathe. Well, you should do a spiritual bath for similar reasons. Because spellcasting? That's like if you worked as a trash collector, and in your spare time, you were in the gym for 3 hours a day and you never ever bathe. :P

The simplest method (though not the most thorough by all means,) is to fill a bath, put in some sea salt (easily available at many stores,) and then wash yourself DOWN (head to feet,) saying the 23rd Psalm. If that is too Judeo-Christian for you and you have other beliefs, then as you wash yourself down, say "I am cleaned of all defilement, I am washed free of all stain, so be it," as you wash down. You don't have to believe in an eternal creator being for magic to work for you. I even like to soak in one of these baths for a good five minutes before saying the psalm to let all that crud that builds up from me spellcasting to just fall off of my aura. Every time I do a spiritual bath – even just a sea salt bath – I feel 100% better. I highly recommend it.

If you don't have a full tub, purchase a container (I've seen laundry baskets like this,) large enough to stand in, that you can fill with very warm water and salt, and wash down while standing in this.

You need to try something different! Everyone is wired differently. Everyone. So, maybe you (or your spellcaster) is using a spell that works on the triggers of lust. And your target is feeling VERY lusty. He or she really wants to take you to bed…thing is, your target doesn't want to act on those urges because he or she does care about you as a friend, and ALL he or she wants (romantically/sexually) is the sex, which is not "worth it' to the target to upset you by having you sexually if they know you're in love. They know that will hurt you more and cause them stress, so they don't act on the lust urges they are feeling.

Or perhaps your ex feels very much that he or she wants to make up with you and BE FRIENDS, but they have no lust urges, and no romance urges, just a desire to RECONCILE. It's something I've gone over in here before more than once, but you (or your worker) need to assess the situation, and find the right triggers to draw the appropriate outcome.

THE ABOVE ARE THE TOP REASONS FOR LOVE SPELL FAILURE, but what else might be going on here…

The dreaded answer – you can't have it. While it is rare, I've seen this happen. Sometimes no one can help you, because you will never ever have what you asked. Now, everyone says "Cat, how many times have you seen that," and in over 25 years of spellcasting for myself and almost 15 years of offering services to the public, I have seen it 4-5 times probably. It has to be less than 1% of the time, and I can only remember a handful of times. USUALLY (though not always) something better than the requested outcome does come along for the client, though sometimes it's just that the answer to some prayers (or spell requests,) is no. Because all prayers are answered, and if you don't get a positive reply, it doesn't mean someone (if you believe in a God) or something (if it's just that you believe in the power of the Universe) ignored you…such as modern thinking on the matter seems to suggest.

Your target is weak and/or easily frightened. This one seems to really confuse people, but guess what? Love is scary, and rejection is even more scary. Breaking up with someone is scary. Admitting you made bad mistakes is scary. So, many of our targets are afraid of rejection, or afraid that if they tell us they want us, that this will cause crazy changes in their lives that they can't handle. If your target is weak and/or easily frightened by such things (and they can be a strong person outside of this weakness,) you might be getting the impression you're hitting a wall with them. The best solution here is to keep the pressure constant on the target, and if you continue to get no response from them (and I mean after more time than a few days has passed,) perhaps non-aggressively reach out and say hi. You want to check with your worker if that's OK (if not doing the work yourself) or wait at least a few weeks post-spellcasting (if doing the work yourself,) but sometimes a reluctant and frightened target is the cause of your misery. While some gentle nudge from you might do the trick, the problem might also be…

You scared someone too much. First, keep in mind, if you were awful to someone, if you were scary, they might not be ready to take you back as even their friend or someone they want to speak to. If your target WILL NOT SPEAK TO YOU, consider how bad the damage truly was. As I went over in the above linked article, sometimes people do need to calm down, and you're not letting them calm down. That can mean you might need some distance, and you definitely need to stop throwing this painful relationship in their face. Apologizing won't help. You need to give them distance.

But what if you've given them months of distance and behaved yourself that WHOLE TIME? Well, let's just be honest with ourselves…how bad were you? Look, I don't like to admit it, but I've  been a f***ing c*** to a few guys, and I really pushed my luck with them. I was nice enough to bleep out what that is, but we all know what it I said, haha, and guess what? Some guys they might forget my mistakes but other ones? I've had them come back YEARS LATER to be like "Cat, I loved you so much, and then you didn't just break my heart, you ripped it out of my chest, lit it on fire, danced around the flaming ruin of my love for you then you just told me to die and go to hell, and I've been scarred for like decades now!" And I'm like… "Yeah, I had a misspent youth, and adulthood, and present…sorry, bro." (Herein, I give an apologetic smile, lol.) In other words, if I can think of a few gentlemen I've hurt and frightened in the past who I would have a hard time bringing back thanks to my behaviors, I have to reasonably assume a few of my readers have caused equal – if not more nefarious – destruction to those in their lives. Sometimes the damage is SO GREAT that even years of good behavior will not erase the damage enough to get your target to be willing to attempt another chance. You can try – and people do, and sometimes they get what they want, – but keep in mind, the more damage you do to a person, the harder it becomes to bring them back into your life.

You're refusing to let the situation change. Remember how above I'd said that your target isn't going to make a move because they are fearful? Well, this is the flipside of a same coin. Sometimes, for example, to make a relationship start to work, you need to break up with someone and show them you mean business. Well, tell this to someone who's trying to save a failing relationship – that the best thing that they can do is say "So and so, I don't need your bullshit. This isn't right how you treat me. You want to start treating me right, well, you know my phone number, and use it. If you feel how you treat  me now is OK, then I think we need to call this quits. Later." But that's a VERY SCARY, and possibly chancey move to make. I know a lot of people won't make that move. It's just, I've seen more than a thousand relationships cross my desk just working for others, and in some cases you need to "break a bone to set it right." :/

Also, sometimes someone refuses to break up with someone they no longer want to date, in order to get a desired lover in their life. Until they leave the (shouldbe) ex, this new lover won't make a move, no matter how hard you work spells on them.

So, sometimes it's you refusing to make needed (and sometimes mundane) changes so the spells can help the situation turn into what you desire. πŸ™‚

There is a huge (obvious) obstacle in the way. As I said above, sometimes the obstacle is really obvious…if you're married to your love interest's sibling or best friend, for example, that's pretty "huge." I can see why your target wouldn't act on your spell influences. But perhaps it's equally as obvious without it being so juicy – maybe your target won't act because he or she feels the geographical distance is too great, perhaps there are job-based reasons behind this as in your job does not allow in-office relationships, perhaps this person dated someone close to you and worries it would be a problem…whatever the obstacle is, you need to figure out how to overcome it if you can. Stop trying to make a spell push a boulder through a doorway, and instead move the boulder away from the doorway to get past that wall… So, if you've got a great high wall keeping you from what you want, then a huge boulder blocking the door in the gate, is moving that left or right so you can move through the door now that it's unblocked going to be easier than pushing the obstacle through or over? It is? Same with spells. Is there a huge obstacle? How can we navigate over or around it to get to the desired end? How do we get it off our path?

If it's a mundane problem (for example, a problem of no in-office romance) then you changing jobs might help. You don't need spells for that.

If it's a bit more complex, try a roadopener spell to break down obstacles. It's probably one of the easiest things you can do to improve your own situation!

If you remove the obstacle rather than trying to force the outcome to happen with this obstacle still being a factor, you will find your work will begin manifesting as you like and without so much stress!

Alright kiddos, this is just a bit of review, and in the next few days, I'll have a brand new love spell up for all of you to use. I hope it's been educational.

  • Q: Can I be part of your spell trials? How are those going?

A: I am actually closing up the trials for now, and am hoping to get this refined a bit and placed online if it meets the level of success I want. If I feel it needs more tweaking and more experimenters I'll let you know. Anyone who's testing who hasn't reported back after 3-4 weeks wait for manifestation, please let me know how this is going.

It's not entirely top secret. Basically, while doing spirit work with another practitioner, it was requested of me that I help this spirit reach more people that he might help more people. I asked him to show me what he meant, and I was shown a similar method to setting a light. I was told if people attempt this first, he might be willing to help just with that, and the payment being the candle and placing his seal out in public (spreading his fame.) That if he would not provide the requested outcome for offering of the candle and spreading his fame, that no harm would come to the petitioner, but rather he would just not help. The petitioner could ask again, but it might mean they needed to send someone to evoke him or to evoke him themselves to have a proper meeting so he could arrange an agreement he felt was suitable for payment (if he'd agree at all.) (It was not that he'd just appear in a cloud of sulfurous smoke, going "What the hell do you want?" as a few people asked, heh, – either it's no movement or you get what you want.) This would make him far more accessible to more people (because the pomp and circumstance around conjuring a spirit is very advanced work and many people don't really get to that point in their occult-journey, – and traditionally this spirit is evoked, rather than passively petitioned,) which apparently this spirit really wants.

Some people reacted poorly to this and found it scary as there is a lot of dumb false bullshit regarding this spirit online, others found it intriguing, and others were just excited to join in on the ride, and so far the results have been interesting. What I have discovered is that it should be KEPT SIMPLE, and while I said as much to my testers, it should also be kept realistic. The more simple the request, the more movement I've seen.

Another interesting thing – for me anyhow, – is that my testers who were raised Catholic seem to have the easiest time with this ritual, and have been showing more success in their outcomes so far. It's very similar to petitioning a saint. I'm grateful for all of the interest I've had in this, and I hope to have the ritual posted online for the public shortly. It's so easy that a lot of my friends who love evoking spirits are totally going to "facepalm" and ask if I've lost my mind telling people they can petition this type of spirit as so. I was actually happy to see a week or two ago that on Facebook, Jake Stratton-Kent (highly respected author on such matters,) said some of them can be approached this way.

Q: Do I need to dispose of my candle wax ritually?

A: I generally do not, but it depends on the spell, and if your spell specifies to take ALL of the remains to some place, then you should very well do so. Wax is gross and can remain in an environment for a long time, and I try to keep anything that is harmful to the critters outside in my rubbish bin and not outside. So, I do throw out my glass chimneys on seven day candles, I do throw out my old candle wax, and what I place outside is generally paper, or paper inside of a biodegradable item. On occasion, if someone is very unlucky, I've been known to bury a glass jar full of old metal, nails, pins, etc and a trace of them near where they live, so I'm not sure that means I'm 100% environment friendly. *evil grin*

Q: I've noticed some paranormal activity post spellcasting…and not over what I was spellcasting for…is that…normal?

A: No, it's not normal, especially if you're not raising spirits (evocation.) What is probably going on is you had something in your home to begin with. Now, if you're talking about ghosts/poltergeists/similar, what probably happened is you disturbed that being or alerted it that you're there. It thinks you can notice it. Before you go ahead and blame magic like you wanted to, realize this same being/entity would also be aroused by the presence of children starting puberty, a person who recently dealt with trauma or tragedy, divination, bringing in a new baby, new construction on the existing structure you live in or within close proximity, thereto, and many other rather mundane things.

While I recommend ritually cleaning your home, if the problem persists and/or becomes troublesome, you may wish to do all spellwork OFF the premises.

Q: Why did you take so long to reply? *inconsolable weeping and/or seething anger*

A: I didn't. My business hours are 9:30a-4:30p M-F Eastern time with all legal holidays off. Technically I only ever need to be replying and working during those hours. That's unrealistic that I'll never be working outside of them, but if you assume I need to reply to your email you sent me at 2:30am on Friday right away, then I'm sorry, but I'm not getting out of bed to deal with your email.

I do check for emergencies every single day. I do cast spells outside of posted hours. I am not particularly fond of the absurd amount of typing my job requires (it's seriously more typing than most administrative assistants, heh,) so it does just so happen sometimes I do decide I'm not doing email work on my days off or after 5p or so because I've had a rough week, and I'm not obligated to work then.

Also, you RESET YOUR WAIT if you email me before I can reply. So this can be tons of fun. Imagine you email me on Thursday night, then again on Friday morning. Then you email me Sunday night, putting yourself behind EVERY SINGLE PERSON who emailed me this weekend. It's an annoying system if you're impatient. Patient people do well on it. πŸ™‚ BUT, if I'm as busy as I've been? I find the impatient people getting really really upset after the weekend if I've had the audacity to, you know, actually enjoy the two days off that I am supposed to have every week.

Q: Are some love spell targets harder to work on than others?

    A: Yes and no.

Look, you want the easy answer, and that's yeah, some people can be harder to get them attracted or re-attracted to a certain other someone, sometimes. It takes planning and trying to find their triggers that will make them do the what you want. But that's a dumb and obvious answer.

It's really something where it is a case by case basis. You have to keep in mind how long the problem has been going on, the nature of the person who wants the target (are they explosive, do they lack responsibility for their actions, do they lash out easily, do they blame shift with such statements as "I was upset so that's why I burned down your house," are they morose, are they upbeat, do they use drugs and alcohol, are they desperate, what do they have to offer the intended in love, etc,) and then also the target. It's not JUST the target. You can have the easiest and most suggestible target alive, and if the petitioner is a jerk, it will never come together. You might also be working on a stubborn jerk that will not want to budge even though the petitioner is an absolutely LOVELY human being who most of us would gladly chase with our hearts on our sleeves.

Plus, think of your worst love affair – I don't care if you were 14 when this happened, but think of the one where you made the most mistakes and acted out, and etc. Realize there are people seeking to fix relationships they beat up worse than possibly your worst moments. Are they bad people? Probably not, but they made a really bad mess. That isn't the target that's hard to work on then – it's the situation, and this person needs to be more responsible for themselves. If they don't improve themselves, the desired situation and the desired person will never come to them.

Now think of the worst person you ever dated – the one that was a real jerk/bitch, a real cold fish or whatever. Realize there are people who want someone that bad, who want to change them into a person that person never can be. That's not a hard target – that's someone who wants a person to be completely different than his or her nature. It's not going to work well if it works at all.

So, it's a hugely complicated thing. It's why I interview people before accepting love work. It's not always going to be good or easy, and at least half the time, the problem IS NOT the target. Are some targets harder than others? Of course, but some situations are more complicated, and some petitioners are super difficult, too.

Q: Why is urine used in some love spells?

A: The law of signatures is probably to "blame" here. πŸ˜‰ Basically, urine is used as a sexual marker by many animals. It signals the sexual availability of the female (is she fertile right now, for example) as well as the strength and desirability of the male and female. It is used to mark territory. Lastly it is excreted from the genitals. While it may carry an "ick" factor to us today, when chamber pots were a common household fixture (before the advent of plumbing) the use of "chamber lye" (urine) was very widespread in magic.

That's all for this edition of Questions You've Asked me, kids. πŸ™‚ Hope to be back soon with some more fun articles for all of you! πŸ˜€
